Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Rivian is offering a retreat to some customers.

It would be awesome if Scout could do something like this down the road.
Oh what about you get a free something from Scout Supply with every reservation you refer and then if they convert to purchase you get a bigger something.

As much as I’ll promote my Scout I’m happy to do so. Referral programs are nice but just added cost to vehicles. Maybe it’s more of a code process linked to owners and those who refer people go on a list and is Scout sells X number of vehicles beyond what they forecasted, after they give bonuses to the factory team and then middle management and upper management then maybe they send us an annual Scott bobble head and those get placed on our dashboards rather than the ducks. Then when you see people with a bunch of bobble heads you know they were a big part of Scout’s growth.

I don’t think that is true. It isn’t an “added” cost when it helps them move more units and keep the lights on.

It’s a win/win situation and companies wouldn’t do it if it wasn’t monetarily sound.

It looks like a possible tariff reduction for the $5.8 billion they invested in Rivian, a U.S. company.
It may benefit Scout depending on how many components they do end up getting from Rivian, like electric motors etc but this stuff can change on a moment's notice so we will have to wait and see. Also just looking through it is they mention they want to build more models in the US and they have plans already. So I wonder if he was just referring to Scout or other VW brand's models

They actually said "Asked what Blume was offering in the talks, which aim to reduce the 25% autos levy, he said: "The Volkswagen Group wants to invest further in the USA. We have a growth strategy."" Like a true politician. I don't think in the short term that it means building vehicles in the U.S.

Didn’t Scott Keogh hint at one point the SM plant has capacity to potentially “outsource” builds. Perhaps Audi will produce some EVs at the SM plant or one of the VE plants since Scout is not VW 🤣

I read somewhere about that Audi more off-road styled vehicle. They said it was code word Hardcore or something like that and they speculated it could be built at the Scout factory. But don’t ask me where I read it.

Level 2 chargers are exactly what's needed for on-street parking. They're useful for people who live in multi-unit residential buildings or those who simply can't charge at home. They're perfect for locations where people spend a couple hours. We have lots of level 2 chargers along the streets here, they're great if you're out and about and need a top up while eating dinner or seeing a show or just wandering around shopping.

When we went to Montreal last summer for the day we didn't use a fast charger at all because there was level 2 charging downtown. We just plugged in curbside and then wandered around the old port and took a boat tour. When we got back to the car it was almost fully charged and it cost something like $3. Had more than enough to drive all the way home.

Fast chargers aren't the solution for every problem. EVs don't use chargers like combustion cars use gas stations.
Which is why I’d love to see the charge port on the passenger side of the vehicle.

Great video, though one thing concerns me. While it has nice chunky door handles, he seemed to indicate that the opened electronically. I’m really hoping maybe that just refers to how they unlock, like on keyless entry cars. @Jamie@ScoutMotors can you clarify? Do the door handles operate physically? Or does the car need power to open the doors? If both batteries are dead/disconnected, is there a way to physically unlock and open the doors? Does the electronic touch point work with gloves? If the car crashes do I have to search for an emergency ripcord to open the door like in a Tesla?

The concept vehicle have actuators because of the complexity in mechanical systems on all four doors. Production vehicles will have regular mechanical door pulls.
