Driver Assist Tech on the Terra and Traveler?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Has anyone heard what type of driver assist or autonomous driving features will be available with the vehicles at launch? I watched the reveal but don't think it was mentioned or maybe I missed it?

I watched the reveal, but saw nothing about it either.

They have access presumably to all of the VW driving assistance stuff, and may even have access to rivians. So I wouldn’t be surprised to see it offer some of this.

Although, I don’t really trust any of that sort of stuff yet. As long as they have adaptive cruise control, that’s about as much as I find myself using with any regularity.

Hopefully none. This is a body on frame truck with a solid axle and locker(s). Hopefully Scout doesn't just turn this into another appliance on the road. I'm fine with them doing what's needed to earn top safety scores, but make all of that automatic-braking crap and lane-keeping stuff defeatable in the UI. I do enjoy parking sensors, cameras and cruise control on the rare occasion, but I'm hoping that cruise control has two options (specific speed, or adaptive). I don't like the latter option as I find myself getting too complacent behind that wheel.

Yeah I use cameras and adaptive cruise control all the time. Multiple cameras can be useful in so many ways. Parking sensors, cross path monitoring and blind spot monitoring are also very useful. I’m not sure about any driver assist, autonomous, or lane keeping…I’m an enthusiast and love driving, so I’m not sure if I’d ever use features like that other than just to try it for the novelty of it once or twice. It’s possible I’d use some of those on really long trips, but not sure it’s worth my money and in reality I don’t think I could afford any of it in the first place even if I desired it.

I do not recall Scout Motors mentioning any driver assist or autonomous at the reveal. I’ll have to read up on what Rivian offers since there’s a relationship there.
