Do you think we will see a Travelette (Long Bed Heavy Duty)?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Do you think we will eventually see a long bed or heavy duty version of the Terra?

  • You would need a CDL for that turning radius, NO THANKS!

  • If demand is there I dont see why not..

  • Yes, they should offer a larger heavier duty pickup to compete in the 3/4 ton pickup market.

  • This is dumb, youre dumb, and I just want a 2 door truck.

  • I would need more details before weighing in.

Ahhhh! I just spent the past hour looking up dimensions of these things and writing a comment. The webpage crashed and it’s all gone…

But did also come across this little fella.

Scout apparently made a Travelall Wagonmaster. A hard top convertible that was pitched as serving double duty as a 5th wheel tow rig and full size SUV.

IMG_1891.jpeg

It had a 203” overall length and a 119” wheelbase.

The 6.5’ version of the Travelette had a 149” wheelbase and a 217” Overall length, and the 8ft bed version had a 164” wheelbase and was 236” in overall length.

Those sound so much bigger when you compare it to the Travelall, which is already a sizable vehicle and they look massive.

So the Terra coming in at a 148” wheelbase and 229” overall length with a 5.5” bed is really messing with my perspective.

Honestly we just need a way to park the old ones right next to the new ones to get an idea of proportion.

Right?!

Where does the extra two feet go when you're looking at that already-huge wagonmaster for comparison?!

The cabin will be a cavern.

And it would be great if we could see the new concepts parked next to different vehicles Like put the Terra next to a lightning and an R1T and put the traveler next to a 4Runner and an R1S. Something like that. Vehicles that we see all the time.

Oh what about this. Someone did this when the R2 and R3 came out. So the one in the back is an R1S and then the middle one is the R2 and the little one is an R3. Someone has to have the computer skills to put the Terra and Traveler with vehicles we all know well.

There I have given you all homework. 😹

I had done some overlays like a 9-10 months ago but no longer have the software.

You will have a good chance to see the old and new together at the Nationals very soon!

I would guess there might be some of those old bigger IH trucks there. Bring a tape measure and report back to the rest of us after the show. :ROFLMAO:
