  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Ive tried that lol it never works even though i feel like I’ve been less d-bag recently on here so maybe i am being more positive.
I’ve really tried pulling back on getting annnoyed and venting about certain topics-other than this topic. 10 F#%€’G threads with different names and the same pointless complaint. Like tomorrow SM is gonna turn around, spend 1.2 million to modify the factory still being built and then another million plus to redesign the Scouts to handle a transmission, drive shaft lots of liquid holding containers, etc…. to create a vehicle that gets 18 mpg.
Like -Damn Scott, why didn’t YOU think of that
?????????
(Blew it again with another rant-?

What about a 700hp Supercharged V8? Any chance there?

I’m just kidding!

But I’d still take one if Scout changed their mind. Just saying…

No honestly i agree people are kinda annoying with the same questions. People need to understand that Bulky EVs are meant for offroading, not being pavement princesses. And if they were to put a Gas Engine in it, it would have the same fuel mileage of an Old military Hummer lol just kidding but pretty much it would. Im joining the rant crew lol.

Obviously I'm not an EV person myself, im a gas station type of person, but what draws me to Scout more than Rivian is the Harvester Package and the rich history that i have followed and researched since i was 12 on Scout and International.

Me too. Which I’ve fairly stated over past two years. I’ve accepted hybrids and like them. The step to BEV will be a leap for me for sure

lol I mean horses still exist too but I'm not the one in denial. For personal vehicles - which is what a Scout is - combustion's days are numbered. I wasn't aware that Scout was making anything for the shipping industry so not sure why that's relevant to the conversation.
I agree that it’s pointless (and defeatist) to keep investing in oil/gas engine tech, but the oil/gas industry will gladly fund research into “clean fuel” and whatnot. ? Everyone enjoys private funding for research and oil seems to be an industry that will do whatever is needed in order to survive. Truly not going down without a fight.

These type of posts seem like a prime Candidate for AI to filter out. You really don't need much of an AI, I have seen the feature on other forum, that examines your post title does a search, finds similar post and asks "are you sure one of these posts doesn't cover your topic" or something like that. That's not AI, just simple search and question. An AI could actually make the determination and just say "Sorry, already covered, join one of the other posts on this topic"...

Simply using the new post feature asks you this but people choose to ignore it while they troll. I think some people just enjoy getting flamed by a bunch of like minded forum members who share common interests

So it does, I guess I had just posted unique threads so I didn't notice the feature, but Just tried diesel in the title and several previous posts came up...

That's why we need AI to step in and just say no... :D

Their investments into so-called "clean fuels" are meant to divert attention and funding away from actual solutions. They're deliberately designed to maintain the status quo for as long as possible while we all wait for their research to bear fruit. Look at hydrogen for example. The oil and gas industry love that "clean fuel" because they know that a) it'll never work from a practical standpoint, b) they get to keep drilling methane so they literally don't have to change a single thing they do (where do think hydrogen comes from? hint: it starts with "meth" and ends in "ane"), and c) they brag to shareholders about how a tiny percentage of their spending goes so far when it comes to slowing progress away from fossil fuels.

Believe me, they have no intention of putting themselves out of business but they also don't want to change what they're doing so they're spending infinite sums on fooling people into thinking clean solutions are "just around the corner, trust us bro". They've been promising hydrogen cars since I was little kid. I have an EV in my driveway right now but have still never seen a hydrogen car in real life.

Case in point: how many people have come here wondering why Scout hasn’t looked at hydrogen fuel cells with people who know some things about some things having to explain why the hydrogen fuel cells aren’t the great idea that they seem to be? Oil/gas is basically the worst. They’re cockroaches and they have no moral bottom. I guess it’s awesome to acquire wealth and everything and to “work hard” but how many necks do you suppose have been snapped by this industry in order to get there? “Working hard” doesn’t mean employing underhanded and deceitful tactics to ensure your survival. It should mean finding reasonable compromises so everyone gets some degree of what they want. They are swine.

Ive seen a Hydrogen Powered car. My BMW service center (my workplace) got the chance to have the iX5 for a day. Filling up is a pain. But other than that it drove like a normal car. Its expected to be released in 2028 was what we were told.

lol hydrogen cars have been "just three years away" for over thirty years now.

It's a non-starter. Hydrogen isn't a "fuel", it's at most a crappy battery. It's an inefficient way to store energy since you have to make the hydrogen to begin with. It leaks like crazy and embrittles metals. It's highly combustible with several hydro filling stations have already exploded even though there aren't that many of them yet. Creating hydrogen is currently a very polluting task, creating 2 CO2's for every H2, we'd literally be better off climate-wise just burning the methane to begin with. And on top of all these issues they still have basic problems like having nozzles freezing to the cars which is fine in a place like California where it eventually melts but not so good in Canada unless you're cool with your car being frozen to the pump at a Shell station until May.

There's a reason hydrogen vehicles aren't even a rounding error in car sales despite having been on sale for almost two decades and having billions of dollars of research money "invested" in them.

It's a dead-end technology that allows companies to syphon off public money while also appearing to do be "environmentally friendly". Hydrogen is a scam and always has been.

As what your username says…. My response to this comment.

Also there are NO optimistic people here I see. Beside a few.

I'm plenty optimistic, but not about a pretend solution.

Electric vehicle though, yeah, they're definitely the future. EVs will pretty much completely replace combustion cars in new vehicle sales in about ten years - the mid-2030's.

Yeah okay.

Theres a place for everything. You can’t just erase something that has hundreds of years of infrastructure.
