All gas

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Hi, I was looking to pre order the new scout and was so excited, until I seen where the only 2 options available are Gas/electric and Electric. Will there be an all gas engine available?
Thank you in advance.
No. And if you’d used the search button you’d see ten other threads about no ICE. There is no plan for all gas and no diesel for the generator to save you more requests.

The vehicle was originally supposed to be all electric.

They added the gas range extender sort of last minute. The range extender “IS” the gas model, so to speak. I believe it is intended to address all the reasons that people might want a gasoline only model.

I believe the chance of an all gas version to be effectively zero at this point.

Thanks for being more diplomatic in your answer.

Unless the plan is to be completely green and then at some point release a gas version, but at this point until there is a major breakthrough on gasoline engine's I don't see it happening. And plus, the only one who has the breakthrough is me lol, intensive research while working on cars, and finding what could be done differently to make them burn cleaner and more efficently.

Or with future car fuel technologies include hydrogen fuel cells, liquid nitrogen, and ethanol, etc...

Someone is living in denial. Combustion engine are here to stay. Sure EVs are slightly more practical but Combustion is what runs the shipping industry.
lol I mean horses still exist too but I'm not the one in denial. For personal vehicles - which is what a Scout is - combustion's days are numbered. I wasn't aware that Scout was making anything for the shipping industry so not sure why that's relevant to the conversation.

When did i put Scout in front of shipping industry??? Huh? Never. I was just saying that combustion is here to stay, and there will probably be a breakthrough that will bring them into competition with EVs.

Thank you for the instruction on how to use the search button. I never though to use that, as I spent most of yesterday reading all of them, as I still could find a "for sure" answer. I suppose you know this to be 100% true, as these are not in production. Not offering an all gas engine is a mistake in my opinion. I did not ask nor do I care about a generator. I would thank you for your reply, but I think you already know you are a "smarty pants" with all the sarcasm in the world exiting your fingers.

As frequently as ICE engines have major, expensive, catastrophic failures nowadays, I have zero interest in ever paying for a new one again.
Thank you for your opinion, I personally will only buy an internal combustible engine, for as long as I can. That is my opinion and my preference. I guess fixing an EV motor is cheap and affordable? My question about making a gasoline engine, is that, a question. I feel not making this an option for those who have this as a preference, is wrong. Once again this is my opinion, and my preference. Just wanted to see if there was talk about it being a possibility, before I rule out purchasing one.

I'm pretty much a ICE guy as well (currently drive a Ram TRX - it doesn't get much more gas piggy than that).

With that said, I have a reservation for the Scout Traveler with the Harvester Gas Extended Option. This to me will be a great option. I can do the EV thing for my daily commute, and then when trips require traveling at distance, the Harvester will fill that roll (as long as it's a "Gas and Go" option). If you haven't watched the Scout reveal I'd suggest doing that. There's a lot of good info there.

You have an option, purchase one of the many ICE vehicles on the market. I'm not here to take your choices from you, don't care what you choose to drive.

Then I guess unfortunately the new Scouts won’t be a choice for you. It has been stated early on along with every press conference Scott Keogh has spoken in regard to it. Being on the forum as long as I have its tiresome seeing a lone wolf appear every few months to make blanket statements about SM having to provide ICE vehicles. As of today they are not. If that’s what you will ONLY drive then no sense staying on the forum hoping when there are other brands with capable ICE SUV’s. Since you stated you won’t buy anything but gas engine vehicle I suspect you likely won’t change your mindset nor will SM so one of you will end up disappointed.
It’s not me being a smarty pants-it’s having seen this enough times over 26 months to know you won’t change your mind and if I had a few hours to kill and did some searching I’m sure I’d find statements to show this has been discussed. Since @Logan was more amicable today I’ll refer you back to his comment earlier.
My rant for February is over!

honestly a Scout is the only EV i will ever drive so it better be good. Ive driven BMWs EVs which are good don’t get me wrong, but i would never spend the money on one. Since they are expensive. Luckily Scout has the perfect price range for me.
