  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Who is to say what future tech might hold - not to mention that combustion and solar power are not exclusive. The human race used solar power to grow food and fuel for most of our recorded history. We just let plants do the work rather than trying to use electricity. If we could find a way to...

The One-Ton Problem with Scout’s Harvester Range Extender

It is easy enough to do quick math to see the problem. Towing takes a LOT of power. If we give the Traveler an optimistic 2.5 miles / kw - then it would need a 140kwh battery to do its published 350 mile range. Now virtually all EV trucks reviews I have seen have 100 mile ranges or less when...

    Rivian CEO Interview

In the end - the current EREV's are a dead end stop gap. Perhaps some day we will have fuel cells that are not a dead end solutions - but likewise almost certainly, battery tech will improve, kwh/kg will get better, battery charge rates, life cycles, etc will improve., Current EREV's are...

I'm Ready for Another Big Announcement

Not a new interior, but a good photo of it from an angle I had not seen before - looks much nicer than the side photos of the same one. Little bit of an odd mix. The wood and leather looks fairly premium - but then the floors look carpet-less, work truck. Don't recall the back seat buttons...

    0-60 times with harvester

Rivian decided to make a "truck" that screams I am an EV. Chevy and Ford followed suit - maybe not screaming as loudly, but they could not remain silent either. Newest Lightning is making headway - but is not the Ford that people want (nobody buys a Ford 2x4 because they actually want it -...

    Must haves to purchase…

I ditched the factory hard top on my LJ for a reinforced vacuum bagged fiberglass insulated one (decent composite company that makes their money elsewhere, but likes old Jeeps-I think they make their money off of racing sailboats). Not cheep, but it saves me probably 20 degrees or more. I...

Scout Concepts in New York City September 18-19, 2025

NYC is a bit of a drive for me, but I will try to take the 1/2 day to see it when it comes to Austin, San Antonio, Houston - or hell maybe even the full day for Dallas. Plus I think there was hints of an Austin trip.

Taking bets on the new color of the Traveler Concept to be seen soon...

Not sure how it would look, but if they want a different image - white roof, white grill. I know it is not as much of a Heritage thing as the Bronco with round headlights - but I did manage to pull images of a Scout II with that theme up.

Rally strips for the win. But not expecting that.

Propane is delivered to homes. Heating oil is delivered to homes. Generator fuel is delivered to homes... Hell in Austin, there use to be a service to do an oil change and fill your vehicle while it sat in your parking garage at work. As for commercial delivery - time is money. Book keeping...

    Traveler 2.0?

I will be critical. Perhaps some of this is just optical illusions - and I am sure it is 90% of the original concept. But I don't like it nearly as much. Comparing with the original photos - the axles look above the bottom of the rocker panels - looks like 2" or so of clearance is gone...

    Rivian CEO Interview

Imagine the emissions of burning a sugar cane field (standard harvesting practice) - S. Texas air is hazy for about 1/2 the year due to sugar cane fires in Mexico (probably 500+ miles away).

Scout Motors Needs to Rethink “Local” Service. Don't do the Tesla model.

I did not expect the number of repairs I was going to need with my VW that could not be handled locally either - motor problems should not be a huge issue - but even EV's have a lot of the same other stuff as ICE vehicles. Buttons fail (mine was the ignition button), lights fail (on 3rd failed...

Scout Motors Needs to Rethink “Local” Service. Don't do the Tesla model.

200 miles to a repair center is either some very expensive towing - or 4 people days worth of travel (1 day each way, for a driver and a second vehicle.). At least with the Scout - I would not need to purchase a car hauler, I could load it on a heavy equipment trailer (my VW really does not...

At least the Nissan dealer in Austin was their own worse enimy. Test drove a Xterra and liked it. Agreed on all the details, had financing waiting. Brought over financing paperwork and they changed the numbers by $5k. I called them crooks and told them it would be a cold day in hell before I...

Luxury features I would like to See

Statistics are what you want them to be. I lived in Austin for about 25 years, so I remember some really hot years, but google now does not show them. Probably a lot of reasons for the changes in published number (such as which station or stations are being averaged to give an "Austin" number...

Luxury features I would like to See

Live in a fairly warm climate. I could live without heated seats pretty easily (if you do seats, do a heated steering wheel as well - nice when working outside in the winter). That said, I used my cooled seats a lot. Honestly, none of my vehicles have truly adequate cooling systems for Texas...

Would be a real shame if Jamie dropped a reveal date......

At least it is a mature technology, even if the self driving feature has a mind of it's own.

Would be a real shame if Jamie dropped a reveal date......

French start up, Kilow. I still want the vehicle, but. It is a souped up golf cart-kind of. Lots lighter than a golf cart, with an off road suspension package - and weighs in about 600lbs (not 1200 like a golf cart). Plus it has a top speed close to 50mph. That said, they are French for...

Luxury features I would like to See

Depends on what you define as luxury. Well equipped is not really luxury - it is convenient. That is also a moving bar, with what was rare a few years ago becoming common today. Top grain leather and wood interior-that is luxury - does nothing but looks good.
