Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I mean, maybe this just isn't selling well? It looks like it is crying tears of pain. LOL.

I'm also biased. Toyota has had a long list of "issues". They ceded any and all advantage that they could have had in the EV truck market domestically in the US directly to Rivian (and will do the same to Scout). I'm actually really happy about that. Very nice to be able to buy quality American-made trucks that will easily outperform any Toyota on the market. I'll give Toyota proper marks for value and reliability scores (because not everyone wants or needs an EV truck), but really that is all I will give to Toyota.

Careful with the Reliability part of that comment... they have been stuck in a ringer recently.

I remember on another forum years ago someone basically laughing at me for suggesting that the Maverick would be perfect for a small landscaper, pool cleaners, parts deliver, etc. They suggested they'd never be used that way. Yea... seems like about every 5th one I see is being used for those exact purposes. No need for a huge payload or towing capacity when you just need a spot for some dirty or noxious stuff.
Where I live, where ag is still a top three industry, the Maverick might be the 3rd or 4th most popular vehicle here behind full-size pickups and HD diesels. Just about every farm and fleet store and ag service shop here has swapped their aging Frontiers and 2nd gen Tundras out for Mavericks.
Toyota's only problem with a Rav4 pickup is they missed the window for fleet sales that Ford has already cornered.

If Toyota released a Rav4 Pickup BEV, my partner would buy it. And I’d drive it at least as often as I drive the Lightning. A 1989 Toyota Pickup sized BEV pickup would be ideal for the kind of ranch, farm, and etc work I do. The Lightning is too big and has too small of a bed, but I use it to tow heavy loads. A Rav4 Pickup would be ideal for non-towing trips to the bigger ranch as well as work around the small ranch. Even a Tacoma-sized BEV would be fantastic.

Europe. It’s always Europe that gets all the new stuff.

Be nice if they just poached the Jimny design (more or less) and offer a small boxy SUV. Even the old Geo Tracker was cool as a small, boxy SUV. SM needs a small SUV as well, that’s the unit they should do with the 4-cylinder in the frunk with as much battery as they can under and make a one piece removable top. I’d buy that in a heart beat

Fun article
Thanks for sharing, I've never seen this before. The "Scout III" kinda looks like an 80s Blazer or future Slate Truck. Also, I like the instrument panel in the center, kinda like the Nissan Z.

And this dash design (below) to accommodate these style cup holders. I remember something similar that would go in your driver/passenger window and periodically would fly out the window.

Remember those all too well
Also, the "TerraMax" seems like a incredible idea, especially for a shorter bed, after seeing this, I'm surprised we haven't seem something similar. Although I'm sure it would require a weight disclosure. The Bronco 4-door has a "Slide out tailgate" option which I do miss, hopefully aftermarket will do something similar for the Traveler.
