  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Do you have to put it in “car wash mode” if you are washing it with a power washer/foam cannon?

The Rivian and Tesla would notice the owners phone and/or key fob being “near by” and make various external controls active. Any that a foam cannon might register as a request to activate would be an issue, like spraying the charge cover on the Tesla would be interpreted as a request to open it, and while the NACS port is somewhat water resistant, a high pressure spray is generally not something normal waterproofing covers. Could be an issue.

On the Rivian there is touch area near the charge port, but I think it is capacitive not pressure, so it’ll depend on how conductive whatever you have in the foam canon is.

The frunk opening control on the rivian is a big rubber dome with a more traditional button under it, so if the foam canon produces more then modest pressure it’ll likely activate. The funk itself is water proof (so you can fit it with ice and drinks I think).

The windshield wipers on both vehicles might decide it is raining and activate, so if the foam canon isn’t something you can fire at a running set of wipers you would like to avoid doing that.

The Scout might be very different. They showed off a on/off press button on the steering wheel (which I’m not sure is an upgrade over “on when owner is nearby” which is effectively what you get with Phone As Key), but if you need to press that before the windshield wipers will wipe, or the frunk opener will work, or the rear lift gate, and the charge point, then maybe “off” is a close enough approximation to “car wash mode"

I’d still like the needle to be Scout orange and maybe the 55 or 65 numeric mark
Bit more complicated, but most current mapping software can display the local speed limit - make the speed limit orange. Plus we have a section in Texas that has an 85mph speed limit.

Just my 2 cents... start simple. Nothing wrong with my 5th gen 4runner. It starts, drives, stays on till I shut it off. Sure, some modes are nice, but just make it a rig, not an iPad.
A Luddite mode please. Like Picasso’s Le Taureau I would like to see the scout in its most pure and essential form, and art is knowing when to stop.
