Ev Delay

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Not a good start if true

Well it’s not Scouts fault, it’s VW. They shouldn’t buy so many companies if they know that they are financially unstable. Which has been the case for years with VW, it’s nothing new at this point.

The only good thing is that @Jamie@ScoutMotors has already replied and has said that this is just speculation.

And you know that The Autopian is all speculation and rumors, by the fact that no other new company is reporting this. The Autopian is a huge click media.

We had quite a back and forth today in the extra extra thread on this article today. Consensus was we don’t know anything specific yet and Jamie pretty much stated the same thing. If you aren’t following him yet he’s a good one to follow. He keeps us updated from the manufacturer side. @Jamie@ScoutMotors.

I've seen enough "nothing has been decided yet" quotes in my professional lifetime which lead me to believe me BEV delay is a done deal. Wild guess is EREV in late-2027 for MY28 only if its catch-up development is far enough along, otherwise MY29? Best case BEV maybe MY29-30?

For us it just means wife and oldest kid would get cars (probably FHEV for both) as dad waits for a swanky BEV.

I’m sorry, but respectfully, I don’t agree with this at all. I understand trying to read the tea leaves around here, but this is all just speculation. If the plant is ready to go end of year ‘27 why would they delay a BEV if it’s ready to go sooner? Let’s say the reservations are 40% for BEV. That’s still 40%, it’s not like it’s 5% or something.

Honestly, until Jamie or SM gives us definitive information I’m just impatiently waiting.

When it comes down to it, they want to sell cars, but something has to go first. One segment of the forum is going to be really happy when their dream goes first and everyone else will be disappointed that they have to wait. If BEV is first, yay! If it isn’t, I’m in it for the long haul and I’ll be waiting with you.

I agree that this is not an official announcement so we can’t necessarily trust the information, but the Autopian is not a complete rumor rag.

They have the most detailed information about Scouts plans for their service model. It was all official and revealed during a press event and all the information in that story was direct from Scout.

Nuance matters.

Until Jamie says this particular story is true, I agree it’s speculation, but I won’t discount their organization completely either.

I'd rather have the Harvester anyway, but either way - many automakers including those who have invested heavily in BEV production are slowing down or turning back. I do think data is showing that consumers feel BEVs aren't worth it without heavy government and state subsidies.
Unless you ask almost anyone that actually owns one - LOL.

Regardless of speculation, I hope that Scout provides official info on release timing sooner rather than later, so anyone who might be affected by a potential delay can adjust expectations.

If BEV is first-which logically makes sense I’ll be thrilled and I hope those on the fence give BEV a chance. I know it isn’t for some scenarios but I bet there are a lot of people on this forum who are hesitant because it’s new and gambling on it may make them believers

I 100% agree with that and have said it as well. I have dreamed for 34 years of having a Scout so I’m in it but at some point I, like many will lose patience waiting and move one. But after nearly 3 years I’m still here and still cheering for Scout Motors

I’m still on the fence between the Terra and Traveler Harvester. If Scout gives us the Terra on 37’s with the Harvester, I have some serious decisions to make. I’m kind of rooting for the Full EV to come first so I have more time to think.

like come on! where are all the one year since reveal articles? They should be discussing how well the market has replied to the legend coming back. we have to be at least 200K+ reservations by now. Scout has over 200k followers on instagram.

Since this is a dedicated thread on this subject I'll add my 3 thoughts here..
1. If rumors are true and a call had to be made, this is the right call given 80% of reservations are EREV.
2. If EREV is behind in development compared to BEV, then we could be looking at a delayed launch. This is better than launching half baked like so many other automakers are doing these days, but still.
3. If launch is delayed to accommodate EREV first, then BEV is even further back. So what, 2029? While nothing in life is set in stone, I'm pretty sure my next daily driver is a BEV so this is no bueno.

NB: Scout will and should deny what I'm suggesting above. I've done that myself on product launches at global companies where it's 100% one thing until it isn't, however to level set my own expectations, that's what I'm forecasting and hope to be proven wrong in a couple years.
