From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.
Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

That you can't officially say you will have Carplay or Android Auto until you sign a contract with them and money changes hands.
The big reasons for CP/AA are really to get all of the phone apps/services you can't get native on the car. For example, Waze and YouTube Music
Is there an OEM UX other than CP/AA that supports OnX? It is so awesome off-road and in the woods and I don’t think I’m living in the past to say I want the same capability I have today.
There are several apps, OnX included that nobody else supports including Rivian and Tesla. Phone mirroring still makes a ton of sense because the app stores and developers are ALWAYS going to be way out ahead on those platforms.
I would be totally satisfied with phone mirroring- didn’t realize Rivian supported OnX- that’s awesome to know. I’m really struggling to Not go buy a Rivian and to hold off for the Scout.
Just to be clear, Rivian does NOT support OnX
Next week, I might take a break from my iPhone. While I was preparing for this, I realized I don't have a backup solution for my garage door. I use HomeKit through CarPlay to open and close my garage door since the Bolt doesn't have a Home button built in like our other cars, but they barely work (our garage door opener is buggy, even had it replaced, and it still acts the same to the physical openers). I learned Samsung Smart Things has a similar functionality, but might not be as elegant a solution compared to HomeKit, where the button appears as I get close to home. I know, as of last we heard, CarPlay is intended to make it to Scout, and I would hope the same can be said for Android Auto, but I would also like to see some native garage door control in the vehicle, either through software or a dedicated controller.
Edit: We have to use MyQ and Meross to control our door digitally, so we do have it setup with both Google Home and Alexa, the bolt has Alexa built in, but the issue with both of those is they require a pin, so while I can ask Alexa to open the door, it wants the pin and takes much longer because of it, so if it doesn't work on the first try it takes much longer to try and try again, HomeKit might take a couple of attempts, but the door is usually going to be open before I reach the driveway

I've always resisted the rush to apps for everything - this is a great example why. Simple homelink buttons in the mirror, buttons for the seat heaters, buttons and knobs for the hvac system - that way nobody needs a pin to ask their car to ask their phone to ask their Google Home for permission to enter their own house.
Ok, off my oldman soapbox: Phone mirroring for the win! I just put a new headunit in my aging Xterra with wireless "phone mirroring", and I use maps, Waze, OnX and Spotify with no issues or lagging. It's completely changed the driving experience for the better.

Same. I put a new head unit in the Wrangler a few years ago. Also it’s super easy to add a backup camera to the Wranglers. They sell a bracket that attaches to the tire carrier and the camera perks out between the spokes on the spare. It’s not as fancy as a new car would have but it’s a backup camera and I’ll take it. That's the issue we face here at my house digital works 90% of the time 70% if it needs a pin, MyQ app directly works 100% of the time unless its fallen out of the plug (I need to replace it) but MyQ is only partnered with a few car brands so we need the Meross/homekit/Google stuff. on the other hand the physical buttons, both the standard openers, and homelink buttons in the Volt, Lacrosse and Chrysler work about 20-40% of the time, leading to mulitple presses and just being a headache and nothing changed after we had the unit replaced with a new one, so the model is just janky I guess
It’s only been a few days with the blazer, and while the Google infotainment system made me a little hesitant at first as I rely on my phone and maps for work, however I already use Google Maps anyway so this is the one True win I’d give GM with this system, my maps app allows my send and routing started on the phone to the car, Unfortunately I still have to have a phone mount on my dash for the job part of my needs, but Maps was my real concern and at least with GM I’m more than happy to not have AA or CarPlay, I installed my preferred music app on the car and it works as expected. I know GM gets this pass because Google is the infotainment and not something proprietary, but atleast shifting away from in-phone-tainment wasn’t the issue I thought it could be. Personally I think I could handle a shift to something proprietary so long as I can get a dedicated music app, my phone charge last significantly longer without needing to route, and stream music
Sorry - this is a late reply to a statement made last Valentine's Day!
While the Rivian platform is great, I would disagree with your statement on the grounds of NOT getting native app support for everything you get with ACP... If you got WAZE support, for example, natively integrated into the Rivian infotainment system, that would be awesome.
Without ACP, I still run WAZE in the background on my iPhone to this very day, 4+ years later.
Right? I'm jealous of anyone that gets by without decent productivity apps and basic group messaging capability. I wish i could keep it that simple, but admittedly i live in my phone and "need" the power user stuff.
Until an OEM stack can solve whatsapp messaging, Teams integration, OnX, the localized alerts and radar quality in MyRadar, as well as several other apps, then AA needs to be included. One of my favorite things to do in certain systems is to run my final destination off the cars Google maps integration but then do localized searches for restaurants/stores off the Android Auto maps.
I was lucky enough to get to play around with the early Scout UX and it's REALLY cool, but phone mirroring fills a ton of gaps.
