CYURE GOES TO SC!! 8/22/2026

It's been a long while since I've been in downtown Columbia, most of my visits were on the outskirts. I had to look up where the Segra stadium is located. I took my oldest on a college visit about 8 years ago to South Carolina and approached the campus from the north through the city and was thinking that it was in serious need for some revitalization. Looks like there is a lot of building and commerce going on right around the stadium - nice to see.

That whole BullStreet District adjacent to the park looks very nice, so it looks like they're making progress.

The hubs has been talking about buying a better zoom lens. Looks like that’s happening now.

When I was in college in SC, I would be hard pressed to point to any large scale industry. Maybe the Wando ports or the Charleston Navy base, maybe timber companies. There was no BMW, Volvo, or Boeing. My brother-in-law was a professor in Aiken lamenting that there was no money coming in to the public schools other than the Lottery. I love seeing what SM is doing there.

NC's looking very different too. It used to be tobacco fields and furniture, both of which are gone for obvious reasons. Recently, aviation is making a big push at the Greensboro airport since they have lots of land, long runways and relatively little general aviation traffic. HondaJet has been there for years now, but Boom Supersonic has their facility built and is looking to start making planes at some point. JetZero just broke ground on their new manufacturing facility too. Those are some cool planes, I hope to see them in the skies in a few years.

Picture request: Can your husband try to get any pictures from a higher vantage point, seeing more of the roof and hood? Not easy in an environment like this I suspect, but I haven't seen much from those angles.

Ha! If he could he would. He will do anything to get the shot he wants.

Whenever we go places I take pictures of him taking pictures. Here are just a few.

Here he is at Disneyland outside of Haunted Mansion. Right after this a Disney cast member told him to get out of the planter

This was back before we move to Illinois. La Jolla, California. I’m lucky he wasn’t attacked by a seal.

This is when we went on our road trip to California after we moved to Illinois. La Jolla again and I was really worried he was going to slip and fall.

And then Nats in 2025. Nothing dramatic, he just shot pictures all day long. He wanted to get the trucks in all the different lighting conditions and he has the patience of a saint and he will wait so he can get pictures with no people in them, only the Scouts.

And then Chicago. It was freezing and he was shooting with no gloves on.

36 years and I love him more everyday. This upcoming trip to SC was his idea because he knows how much I want to see every iteration of the concepts.

I can’t even bring my regular bag in the stadium, I had to buy a clear one. I don’t think they are going to let these in the door.
