Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
What a bizarre take.

This would be my headline:

"A hack throws an excessively-polluting generator into what had been a well-engineered vehicle, loses functionality, endangers friends and family and other drivers, and calls it macaroni."
"Most importantly, the engine needs ... exhaust lines to prevent fumes from entering the cabin."

Yeah, I'd say that's pretty important. LOL

Ditto

Plus I would add the following "and, on second thought, actually teaches Scout nothing..."

I thought this was fascinating. It’s a video tour through the GM plant producing EV’s. I assume Scout assembly will be similar. I found the paint booth particularly interesting.

Hmmm, now something isn’t making sense. The two we know about are going to be in New York on the 3rd.

@Jamie@ScoutMotors can we please get clarification on this.

Now it’s my understanding there was that Traveler buck at that SC minor league baseball stadium. Maybe that’s it. 🤷‍♀️
I recalled that as well but I shall read on

More on Slate:

The lede:
"The $24,950 Slate Truck—already the most affordable electric vehicle in America and the most affordable new truck of any kind—just got meaningfully better. Range is up 37 percent over what was initially announced to an estimated 205 miles. Payload has climbed to 1,550 pounds. Tow rating hits 2,000 pounds, enough to haul a pair of jet skis. First deliveries are expected in Q4 2026. You can preorder it now at Slate.auto for $300. If you already dropped $50 on a reservation, it’s only $250 more to convert. More than 180,000 people are ahead of you in line."

2027 BMW X5/iX5

Adding a bit more here.

Its got some seriously impressive stats.

144kwh usable battery pack size, 435 mile EPA range, peak charging rate of 460kw, and 10-80% charge time of 22 minutes.

For reference, here is my Hyundai Ioniq 9.

106kwh usable battery pack size, 320 mile EPA range, peak charging rate of ~235kw, and 10-80% charge time of 24 minutes.

The BMW has a bigger battery than an F150 lightning, in a vehicle that is smaller, and more efficient. That sort of battery size/range, even with the same-ish charging speed of my Ioniq 9 now, would be a game changer.

I actually am starting to worry a bit about the 350 mile range of the Scouts, and if it will be as competitive as it needs when the time comes.

Then I remember the Jeep recon and its 222 mile range :D.
