Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

    Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

    How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

    Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

    So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Unsure if Duluth is "on brand" or not. I Don't really associate Scout with golf

I think everyone has their brands that they like, but it’s like when you have a party and you’ve got this idea in your head that because you like all of your friends, all of your friends are going to like each other. It’s never what actually happens. The reality is a mess. It’s probably better to make the singular brand have the broadest appeal and if you want to have a Coach leather X DC Crisis of Infinite Earths crossover event on your seat cushions, maybe sort that out in your own time?

Not to get too serious for a moment, but that’s actually why it’s so helpful to have communities where we interact with folks who might otherwise travel in very different circles, and to preserve those spaces by not bringing too much of our own baggage. Cross cultural connections help make the world a better place.

Though if anyone starts talking smack about Star Trek we’re going to have a problem 😜

Since that is likely received as a general statement to most-which Star Trek?

You mean Star Wars? :ROFLMAO: Sorry, I had to. I love both. A friend of mine was director for Star Trek: Picard, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. I got to go on set and sit in the captains chair on deck. Nerd Alert!!! ⚠️

Generally partial to last century, but I wouldn’t speak ill of any of it (Except maybe that section 31 movie…). Lower decks covers a multitude of sins. If I had a choice of where to get a drink, it’d be tough to choose between Quarks and 10 Forward.

And every time people complain about vehicles that look like space ships, I’m thinking “but I want a shuttlecraft”.

This looks like the first real “possible” for SSB. I know they won’t make it for our Scout’s initially but oh boy.

I didn’t watch the entire video, but the headline for it is a bit misleading. solid-state batteries have been mass-produced for years. They’re just not for BEV traction battery use. I know, it’s a quibble, but I think it’s important. People tend to think SSBs are mythological. They’re not. The issue isn’t the practical application of the chemistry (or, rather various chemistries), it’s the scaling and mass production of larger cells.

  • Iten has a ceramic solid-state battery for surface mount device (SMD; a small battery soldered to a PCB) applications. Think pacemakers, field devices, IoT, etc;
  • TDK has the CeraCharge, another small battery soldered to a PCB;
  • Maxell has ceramic SMDs, coin-shaped, and cylindrical batteries. They’re all very small, of course. Some are being used in automotive applications such as the batteries for TPMS;
  • And, yes, ProLogium has been making solid state ceramic batteries for a long time. Most of the applications they’ve been targeting have not been BEVs until relatively recently. They will likely be one of the first-to-market (there will be several in the broader market at about the same time).
Most of these manufacturers use low capacity, low(er) voltage cells because their applications don’t need high capacity or high voltage.

The mass production of larger cells with higher voltages and higher capacities has been one of the bigger issues facing all the manufacturers.

Sadly, they can’t safely string together these kind of micro cells that are in mass production to make a BEV traction battery. A new cell structure is required to reach the higher voltages and capacities required.

Adaptive matrix headlights.

BMW has Adaptive Headlights in the states for a few years now. When it sees an oncoming car, it lowers the beam in the area.

Also, Yes, the USA is behind its Automotive Technology, but also our cars typically last longer. So, we prioritize longevity and safety over New Technology. Just watch in another 10 years our EVs will be way higher tech then Chinas.

I've had them enabled in the Lightning since we bought it. The hardware was there, but I had to go into the programming and enable it. Not something Ford is doing a great job advertising. It's almost as if they wanted the Lightning to "fail."
