Help me decide BEV or EREV

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I too thought that we would see specs soon, but after seeing the R2 roll out they didn’t get specs until March of this year. So what, about 2 or 3 months before deliveries will start to the general public. I think it’s going to be closer to delivery time, but I could be wrong.

I am not patient like you cure. Maybe I need to take a break for a bit because I know I am being negative Nelly. Just can't help think the Terra BEV is just on the back burner. Not hearing any new info on possible getting more then 350 or anything on the Terra. One thing for sure is I am not waiting until 2030.

We all have those days. I have my moments where I think my Scout will never get here. I just keep reminding myself that SMs goal is to sell as many vehicles as possible as quickly as possible. I just don’t see it being a full two years between models.

There are a lot of rumors going on, lots of ai-echo-chambering, and etc. I think it’s fair to lease an interim vehicle while waiting. We may end up doing so if we decide this winter that the Mustang can’t handle the snow.

My interim lease list is very similar - and we may end up just leasing another Ioniq5, ours has been great. Would be kind of cool if my March of 2024 R2 reservation got me any information beyond what's on the general website, the original plan was the R2 until the Scout was ready, but no information is coming from Rivian so far. Ioniq has to be replaced in December, so we still have a few months to decide.

Yeah, it would be nice if Rivian would put some R2s into their show rooms and let people test drive them.

They will do that, but they need to get through initial production and their first tranche of deliveries. There is likely limited urgency around test drives at this stage based on fulfilling converted reservations to orders and making deliveries, but Rivian is doing a ton of R1 test drives (and not just in show rooms). Once they get enough units through the line and out the door, they will also run "limited time pop-up events" all over the place. Soon, those locations will have R2's. The key is reserving your spot in advance. At least where I am, they have done Test Drives at Orvis locations, outdoor malls, Ski & Bike shops, Rivian Charging Outposts, etc. They will get there, but it will take time.

And 2 years from now hopefully we'll be test driving Scouts! Yay!

Oh, I know. I’m just impatient.
