From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.
Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.
How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

There are heirloom, descriptive sayings in my family that are similar. Fine as frog hair. Rare as hen's teeth.

Probably true. My parents lived in SC for 116 years so probably more where I picked it up
My 2017 F150 has an 18" spare with 20" all around. Had to use it once - works fine even for an extended time like getting back from a road trip.Like you, I’m likely ok with plebeian sized 33in tires (that’s already 2in larger than what is considered oversized on my old jeep).
And that brings up a good point.
Full size spares are awesome. But it might also be nice to offer a “not an emergency doughnut, but smaller than full size” type of spare. Not ideal, but way better than no spare.
I’d gladly take a 29-31in spare tire on a vehicle with 33’s, if it was out of sight. Especially if there was an additional option to carry a full size spare externally/elsewhere when desired
I’m having a brainstorm about a spare carrier on the Terra. I envision something like the existing one, open on top and bottom. But inside the swing out mechanism there is an inner frame hinged at the right. Thus allowing the spare/inner carrier to be swung down once latches are released. This would be dampened by rams similar to those on a lift gate.
The spare levers down to rest on the ground. Roll out the spare, roll in the flat. To close, grab the lift handle, release lowered latches and lift the inner carrier up with assist from the rams. The entire carrier could be mounted 4-6 inches lower with a bumper cutout helping minimize wind resistance at the top. This mechanism would work with the carrier closed to the tailgate or swung away allowing the tailgate to be lowered.
Probably a harebrained idea but I do want a spare tire carrier of some kind on my Terra.
