Self-Healing Systems

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Are there machine-learning systems onboard that evolve over time based on driver behavior (with opt-in) or insight into issues that are starting to show patterns that could be solved through self-healing and redundancy?

Please explain more, this is to vague

Totally fair — I’m essentially asking whether the vehicle has adaptive software that improves reliability or driver experience over time, beyond standard OTA updates. is the Traveler designed to get smarter and more resilient over time, not just receive feature updates?

It sounds like you are describing some sort of an in car AI. They have not mentioned anything about that.

I’m less interested in “AI features” and more interested in durability.
For example — could onboard systems identify failure patterns across the fleet and push preventative adjustments before owners experience breakdowns?
Sound like a system that some video games have where they will fix their own bugs in Realtime to prevent crashes.

I can see it being a possibility, the question is at what cost? I do remember/if i am remembering correctly seeing a scout presentation about a service chat bot that will identify issues and try to fix them if software related with your Scout. so maybe it can also do this.

Nothing specific has been stated but I know what you mean. Understands you lead foot for the first 3 seconds and learns to adjust torque or adjust to your specific driving habits

That would be kind of cool and kind of scary. Thinking of that scene in 2001 where HAL9000 learned to read lips and thus watches Dave and Frank talk about HAL making an error and the need to disable HAL. Do you really want your Scout to become a self-aware murder machine?

That’s how I feel about AI
Did we learn nothing from the Terminator series?

:)

Sounds like applied collective Machine Learning across the fleet of deployed vehicles, that could then perform their own independent "OTA's" based on acquired learnings.

I'm guessing that (at this stage) you would want to send those learning back to the mothership, before being deployed via OTA (after human intervention and approval at Scout Motors HQ), due to liability issues. This would be considered a subset of AI.

I'm not seeing something like this just "happening" all on its own without some human oversight - at least this stage in the game!
