Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
And I’m so tired of the captions that say, “I just found the viral (insert product name here)”. If you have to tell people it’s viral, it isn’t.

And don’t get me started on the influencers that do the finger taps on products. Nope, pass.
I’m so glad I don’t know about these things. Even the term “influencer” is comical to me. I don’t have brain cells or time to waste on social media.

Yes.....ECD is Estimated Completion Date. Sorry....work vernacular jumped in there. :)

I was really just hoping someone had given us a idea of when that info would be released. As much as I want a Terra and as excited as I am about owning one, it's viability for me comes down to it's ability to tow (I know...this has been beaten to death, sorry). Based on what the CEO said to Jay Leno, I switched over to the Full Electric Terra in order to get the full towing capacity.....but I'm concerned that with a ~350 mile pack I'll be stopping to charge a ton if I'm towing. That's the reason I originally wanted the Harvester. Course if it takes a huge capacity hit, then the Harvester won't work for me (I don't fancy towing right near the capacity limit....doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy). Hopefully they'll release the real deal info in enough time before production starts to allow for reservation updates as and if needed. Guess we continue playing the waiting game. :)

Oddly enough, I'm not opposed to EVs in general, it's all the stupid stuff they put in (or don't put in) with the electric drivetrains. No buttons/all screens, no door handles, etc. I'll want to keep one engaging vehicle to drive, but will likely be all-EV otherwise in the next few years. A silky-smooth inline-6 or a big V8 attached to a manual transmission is hard to beat from an engaging standpoint, and the rolling toasters just don't get my heart going. To be fair, ICE vehicles with automatic transmissions count as rolling toasters to me too. So boring to drive, whether it's a race-prepped DCT or an econobox.
I feel you here. I'm one of the 4% that went back to ICE....and this is exactly the reason. Loved my M3P, but I missed having a noisy 6MT sports car that was a joy to drive. As fast as my M3P was (and it was FAST), driving a 5000 lb car aggressively wears on you. After about 15-20 minutes you REALLY start to feel that weight. Anyway, It felt like this was one of my last opportunities to own a manual transmission car, so I had to do it since the chance will likely not come again. That being said.....I want another EV as a Daily Driver and the plan is for the Terra to replace my current pickup and be my DD. :)

Another thought. The R2s are going on sale soon and they still don’t have pricing and specs yet. I know we all want to know, but what SM is doing doesn’t seem out of the ordinary at all.

I'd hate to be in charge of pricing something that's releasing so soon with all of the financial/import world in such turmoil. Back to reduced tariffs today, but next week? They'll likely be back in another form. It probably helps that Rivian has been bringing more production in-house instead of outsourcing, but I'd still hate to be that guy!
