What kind of tech do you expect enabled in the car or interface?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I was finally able to capture a video of the issue I have with snow accumulation on the hood of an EV. Without waste heat, the snow just accumulates instead of melts. Then at speed it flies off in clumps of frozen, wet, blobs and into the windshield.

I was in a meeting for two hours while snow accumulated on the hood. I started the truck up 15 minutes before I left, but that just warms the cabin, not the hood. I cleaned some of the snow off before heading out. But the snow accumulated fast enough that it was thicker by the time I started this video. I was at a complete stop before I started the video. I’ve edited it to shorten it.

Where I live you are forced to clear your vehicle (or at least incentivized to do so) b/c you can be fined up to $200 if you don't.
I have PPF on the hood for this reason and have one of these babies.

Is there any solution to this that could be installed by Scout? They always tell you to get all the snow off your car because it can be dangerous if it freezes and flies off and hits someone.
If Scout offered a cold-weather (or whatever) package, they could easily include something like this as well as heaters for the headlights, etc.

That’s great when the vehicle isn’t moving. And I did that before driving away.

Much of this snow accumulated while I was driving through town before I got to the highway. I’m not going to get out of the vehicle at every light to clean off the hood. Nor am I going to stop on the side of the highway to clean off the hood.

You're just driving too slow ;-)

When we still living in Boise the city passed an ordinance requiring drivers to completely clear ALL windows on their cars. There was a tendency to scrape a single 3-4 inch patch in front of the driver only. You can imagine how that caused accidents.

We have a similar ordinance. The problem is that when we get snow, it dumps a lot very quickly. We’re in the top ten snowiest cities (yes, in AZ) in the country. But we don’t get it all year long, just in big dumps.

Before a snow storm i put a quick detailer that has ceramic coating and a hydrophobic formula by my friends at a detailing company that I've been using forever on my truck and the snow doesn't stick. It just pushes off with zero effort.
