EREV initial release only?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I kind of think EREV's are the next evolution of plug in hybrids. But then again, I see most hybrids as stepping stones anyway.

The Terra has a problem that is less prominent in the Traveler. The Terra will be judged against 1/2 ton trucks. If it comes out with 1/2 the towing capacity, it might not be judged well. If getting that towing capacity costs the frunk - then the EV Terra will not be judged as well against EV's. What could happen is 2 significantly different Terra's. But then back to Scout's plan of releasing 2 models - this would be a problem for the EV version.

Down the road - who knows what they will do. 3rd row Traveler, 2 door Traveler, HD Terra? Or will the initial Terra end up being a more HD version?

I'm a little late to the party here.

As President (self-appointed) of the Cool Kids Club, otherwise known as BEV Terra reservation holders, I know we will likely be last to get our new Scouts but I, for one, am staying put and keeping my reservation. Here's why:

As Jaime said, Scout is starting a brand new company in a brand new factory, with all new production workers, etc. I think we all just need to give them some grace and let them roll out the vehicles in whatever order they decide is going to make the most sense for them.

If it takes them a little longer to get to the BEV Terra, we get to keep our prestigious, exclusive club going a while longer.

I also have the advantage of having bought a used Lightning a few months ago, so I have an awesome vehicle to drive while waiting for my Scout. Because of this, I don't mind waiting longer because I can pay down my loan and build equity in the Lightning while waiting. I'm also getting experience owning an EV so by the time I get the Scout, I'll be a pro at using DCFCs, etc

I realize other's situations may be different and some may need to get something else if the delay is too long. I totally respect that. I just think this opportunity to get a new Scout is too cool to pass up, so I'm here for it, no matter how long it takes.
I too will wait for the BEV Terra, even if we're the last to get our vehicles. I drive a 16 year old Honda Element with 210,000 miles on it. It's starting to get expensive to fix and shit is starting to fail. If I have to drive something else for a few years, I'll still wait rather than change to the EREV.

There are many reasons why I am excited to switch to an electric vehicle, but one of the biggest reasons for me is the reduced maintenance. I've never been a "car guy" and am terrible at routine oil changes, transmission fluid flushes, exhaust system repairs, etc. I switched to a battery powered lawn mower 3 years ago and have been so happy with the ease of it, the power it has, and how quiet it is. I have no desire to purchase my "dream truck", only to continue doing the maintenance on and dealing with an ICE that I will probably only use occasionally.

Everyone here has different desires, needs, and wants. Scout can't possibly make us all happy on day one of production. And in choosing the least desirable vehicle package, I recognize I'll be at the bottom of their priority list, but I think it will be worth the wait.

Yep, no way I am switching out of the pure BEV Terra to the EREV. Standing my ground and I honestly don't care if it comes after everything else is delivered and launched.

However, and I have stated this in another thread, TIME is the killer of all deals. Scout could (theoretically) come to market sooner with the Pure BEV Terra & Traveler. In the process, they could drive more reservations for BOTH variants. They could also crawl, walk run into the Harvester while they get an actual product on the road and drive more interest (and preserve existing reservations). Not my decision thought! Either way, there's no way I will swap out my pure BEV reservation for an EREV.

This would be ideal and would allow more people to find a close match to what they desire. Did Rivian offer all colors or just limited along with the green-correct? Was yellow part of launch?
They offered all colors, but certain paints and paint processes are more expensive for the OEM. I think LIMESTONE for example, added $1500.00. The Launch Green was a freebie and a limited color. Nice color too!

Yeah. Really nice green. Yeah-I’m sure some of Scouts colors will have premiums and I’m OK with that so long as they offer a 1/2 dozen at standard cost.

Uuuggghhh! I thought we got away from this. Today was great with positive posts. Let’s just ignore this for now so we do t all spiral again.

I’m willing to wait, I don’t like the idea of having to deal with an engine again, my issue stems from not having a truck and I hate renting, my father won’t let me borrow his truck because he’s afraid it can’t make it all the way to my house, so when we bought a bunch of bricks in the summer for a project we transported them in a Chrysler 200, the thing looked like it was cambered out, we bought a shed in box for our lawnmower and had to bring it home in the Volt because it had the most space. I do have roof rails on mm Bolt but those can only do so much. I may have turned a friend into a possible Tello buyer today, I told him if he gets one I may need to borrow it

Yes we saw and boy yesterday was a day on here. Jamie posted as much of an answer as he could to everyone’s concerns and now we are onto other things!

Okay I won't bring it up again. I did not realize it was already posted. Just don't have the time go thru every post. Parting words on this subject is this really concerns me but I will hang tight until late 2027.
