Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I’ve been swayed to BEVs but the more I see EREV, I don’t necessarily want it BUT, any given week I go to the office 3-4 times a week at 6 miles round trip. So for argument sake, that’s 25 miles per week. That means at least in warmer months I can go nearly 5 weeks without charging and rarely use the extended range. To the point I suspect the generator will forcibly kick on just to swirl and burn some fuel. So in my case, I’m not loving EREV but theoretically I may only need to get gas in it 2-3 times a year. Now if we start using the scout to roadtrip it may occur a bit more frequently but I could also charge twice a month instead on once and still rarely use the gas.
I’m like the opposite of many drivers who will likely rarely charge and just run fuel. So maybe I can be swung over to the dark side without a lot of hesitation. Sure-a bit more labor annually but if I can charge once a month and only fuel 2-4 times a year-I can live with that. And technically on a long road trip those couple fuel ups would be much faster. Hmmmm-I think I can live with either option having been thinking tonight while fighting a cold

You will be charging more than you’re saying here. But, if you have a level 2 EVSE at home you’re fine. Unless you can find ethanol free gas, I would be adding Stabil fuel stabilizer for ethanol if you’re only going to fill up a few times per year.

FWIW, I think you’ll get more time between firing up the generator than you think.

My PHEV can only go about 30 miles on a charge. But most of our ”typical” destinations are more like 5-10 miles away. And during the summer we can go months without firing up the gas engine. We did ~2200 miles on one tank once (11 gal tank, put just over 9 gal iirc). That was about 3 months worth of driving. And in that time, most of that gas usage was on a longer trip or two.

So I’m sure there will be a timer that is used to determine when to fire up the generator. I wouldn’t be surprised if it could be much longer than 3-4 weeks.

Another sad dealership story. This time from @THil08 ’s home state
The issue for NJ is our grandfather laws.

The only EV that got approval to sell is Tesla because they got governor's approval from Chris Christie.

But So far Lucid, Rivian, Polestar have managed to get their licenses. Im sure Scout will too. Its just getting it pasted the dealerships. And putting it in a wooden area not a city, like Tesla, Rivian, and Lucid are.

So Tesla, Lucid, Rivian & Polestar have DTC Sales licenses in NJ. Thats promising news for Scout.
