Battery and Motor

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

I recently watched CES 26 and saw that Donut Labs is creating the very first solid state batteries! I'd like to ask that be looked at for Scout Motors!

Along with that, Donut Labs Motors are incredibly powerful as well and very light. I didn't know if that could be something to also engage in.

Welcome to the community. For the Scouts that we will be purchasing they will come with existing and proven battery technology. They have been designing the Scouts for years and testing has been occurring for quite some time.

As amazing as Donut Labs tech seems to be, it’s not ready for prime time just yet, as they say. A future generation of Scouts could come with different battery technology, just not right now.

Welcome again!

It remains to be seen if this is really "real" We shall see in a real world vehicle test case.

Scout Motors. “People. Connections. Community. Authenticity." Welcome to the Scout community. Enjoy the ride. 🛻 🚙
Remember the built in search on the forums is a great place to start getting answers to your many questions. 😀

Been following this for several weeks. So far, all anyone really knows is that Donut Lab's has produced a battery case - that per their unverified claims will have a "battery" with some specific characteristics in it shortly.

People are associating those characteristics with solid state batteries - but I don't know if Donut Lab's actually claimed solid state. They did use the word batteries, but honestly the characteristics they are claiming are also similar to what a super capacitor would have (if one existed with the density they are claiming). They are EXTREMELY quiet with hard details like chemistry. They mentioned some high points, but did not mention certain other characteristics that would give a better understanding of what they are making (cell voltage range, self discharge rates, calendar life, etc...). They have mentioned density, cycle life, charge rates, temp ranges - all pretty much currently in the dream ranges.

The Verge motorcycle apparently exists outside of AI, with a completed limited production run (I think in 2023). I could not find much evidence of any further production. The CEO of Donut labs is a serial entrepreneur. Companies he has been associated with have produced products - not always living up to the hype after the companies were sold. Honestly, amazingly few YouTube owner reviews though - I did not find any.

While I cringe at the term "serial entrepreneur" - I also have to recognize that good ones do exist. Many successful entrepreneurs don't want to manage mature companies - they want to find opportunities, investors, grow the companies - and repeat. Lot easier to repeat if you don't have the baggage of managing a mature company that is past it's growth phase. Still, this CEO's track record is at least questionable.

Anyway, general feel online is high potential for at least partial scam (and honestly, most think it is a lot more than partial). Maybe something will be made, but hard to say if it will live up to all expectations - as the expectations are largely assumptions. Kind of like solid state batteries so far I guess.

Welcome to the forum. Perhaps in the future but brand new start up isn’t going to risk unproven tech this late in the game. To big a risk for failure
