Traveler or Terra for Road Trips/Daily

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I am 100% in for the Scout Terra pickup truck. But, that is because I already have a small BEV SUV (HI5 - Hyundai Ioniq 5) which I intend to keep after purchasing the Scout Terra. If something happens to my HI5 I might reconsider getting the Traveler, but probably not.

I regularly need to haul trash to the dump, and I refuse to put trash inside a vehicle again. I have been using a trailer for years, which works fine for now. But, since I don't have a garage, the trailer is a pain to hook up in the winter time. Having a pickup truck would make things so much easier for dump runs as well as hauling materials home from the BORG (Big Orange Retail Giant). I owned a full sized pickup years ago and loved it, but ended up getting rid of it when gas costs got too high.
I hope you don't mind me stealing "BORG (Big Orange Retail Giant)" that is what I will be calling it from now on. Just to funny, and I love it when people think I have lost my mind. 🤣

Oh just buy both.
I floated the idea of tearing the garage down and building a 1,200sq-ft garage/shop/loft apartment, and the wife seems to be very interested, so I think I will just need to stick to one for now. Its going to cost around $100k to build.

Our current driveway is single lane and the garage is pitifully small. It can't fit either of our cars because the floor is raised about a foot and the roof is too low. Its also full of e-bikes and scooters so its a pain to work on anything in there.

We would be running a 200A sub-panel to the new building for EV charging in both bays because there is still no charging infrastructure available in our area. I think once I do that and have one for a while she will be more open to the idea of a second one.

I have the same question.

We currently have 4 kids and a 3 bedroom home. As the boys get older they will need their own rooms.

I also have a younger sister with special needs. She currently lives with my parents. When they pass away she will be coming to live with us.

Hopefully the boys will be able to get established and move out so she can have that space when the time comes.

She can get around on her own, but can't drive or handle money. I would never consider putting her in assisted living.

I want her to have her own space and feel some sibilance of independence.

Awh that’s so nice of you. My niece has a similar issue.

Great Father, Great brother; with a great plan. You know in the earlier post I was just jesting about you in the dog house.

Im equally torn, but dumber than you because I reserved BOTH! lol

I want a truck to haul dirt bikes and do Home Depot runs, but the 5.5ft bed would (possibly) only fit one bike with the tailgate closed. The Terra will be less capable Offroad so that is also a consideration. Its towing capacity is going to be significantly higher than the Traveler though.

So I am also considering the Traveler and using an enclosed trailer when I need to do truck things. This would be more expensive but it would be easier to park the shorter Traveler when I am not pulling a trailer.

It would also be nicer to sleep inside the back of the Traveler in a pinch and offers more security in the city.

So many pros and cons to both. We will be completely debt free at the end of this year aside from our mortgage so we may end up discussing buying both in 2027.

Would prefer to drive both before I decide but I dont think that will be possible unless Jamie hooks me up next time they swing through DFW with some demo/press vehicles.
See!! That is exactly what I am saying! We camp a few times a year and it has been nice throwing everything in the bed and not having to worry about it being inside getting it dirty. However, in the few times that our friends need to have us haul their stuff to the cab gets filled up quick too! I could just say I don't have enough space to carry it if I keep and get the Traveler? hahahah Or just keep the truck and get the Traveler for the daily. I would bet we all think the Traveler Harvester is going to get the most amount of range between the 2 depending on what Off Road goodies are added??!! Shoot I don't know. That is why I was curious asking you all. I like the Terra alot and really enjoy having a truck....but at the same time that Traveler is a sexy motha shut your mouth! :ROFLMAO:

Shoot! I need whatever job you are in! Id like to write a big check too! I am open for connections!! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
One big check coming up. 🤣

I solved the “helping friends move stuff” problem by getting a cheap utility trailer. We’ve had it for more than 20 years and it’s been one of the best vehicle purchases we’ve made. We usually didn’t have a good place to store it, but we always found some way to keep it around. I still can’t go more than a year without a pickup. So now I have way too much moving capacity… Ooops.

I’d be careful announcing your moving capabilities.
