Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Auto Start Stop systems would be likely removed. As much as they tell you it’s good for the environment, it’s worse. A car burns the most gas at start up due to needing a rich fuel source. Now repeat that every time you’re at a stop light. And besides that it’s also more wear on your starter motor.
Not necessarily true. It depends on how often you start and stop AND SIT IDLE, and can save more in city conditions with traffic lights. If you are sitting idle and not running the engine, you can also make the argument over time that there is less wear and tear on the engine itself. So while these system require more robust starters, batteries rods, etc. the offset in starter usage wear and tear may be offset by less run time. Also, in a test done by EDMUNDS with three separate vehicles, they calculated a 10% savings in fuel on average for city driving. So, if you do a lot of city driving and spend more time at idle, there are benefits.

Moving to an EV from an ICE car or truck that leverages auto-start/stop is amazing. The experience is so different, feels so much more refined and creates a generally more smooth, comfortable and quiet driving experience, in comparison. HUGE difference in driving experience.

Im gonna say this nicely, the 10% is a tad high. We had to research this today. And we found only a 3% saving.

After only one experience driving an automatic Start/Stop, 50% fuel savings wouldn't convince me to buy one. It is just irritating. Granted, I don't rack up much mileage annually. As for the fuel efficiency regulations, my opinion is that Americans do love the gas guzzlers and will buy them. I mean, what is the Tacoma without the V6, the Mustang and Camaro without the V8? I love muscle cars like any other and I love my current V8 SUV, but I am ready to move on.

I just don’t understand getting rid of it because it’s not going to make cars any cheaper. And that’s the push behind this is saying cars will be more affordable. No they won’t.
That’s not really the true push. The true push is more ICe vehicles so everyone connected with big oil gets richer. It’s the 2%’s just getting wealthier

I think more people would swap to a plugin hybrid or EV if they knew more about them, there’s a lot of misinformation out there and people unwilling to research and learn. I few years ago I would have called you insane if you told me I’d be driving an EV, but somewhere in there I started looking into them and learning and when my 2001 F-150 went down I got a 21 charger, but while going from $80 a week to $40 was nice, when my bolt came up near by I jumped at it, an entry level EV to test the waters, fits my daily miles, and now I don’t have to go out of my way to find fuel after work. The best part from $40-80 a week in fuel to $50 a month
Well said but most of the Mia information is again, Big Oil and smaller groups don’t have the pockets the BO does so it’s very hard to get in front of things. To be honest, had I not gotten on here because of a Scout, I would never have considered buying a BEV-hybrid, yes but not a BEV. I’d love to figure out a way to share the info we learn here to a larger viewing audience
