Package options - what would you like bundled?

On the F-250, the XL and XLT have a 40/20/40 bench seat standard. On the Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum, 40/console/40 are standard with an option for a bench on the Lariat. The max recline seats are optional on Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum and standard on the Platinum Plus. But you can’t get the max recline on the Lariat if you’ve chosen the 40/20/40 bench option.

It's been said already on this thread, but the "luxury" options I find are a need in a car for me are essentially the cold weather package type things. Heated seats AND steering wheel are top priority. Ideally a steering wheel that has heating all the way around if feasible. My Rav4's heated wheel is only on the sides. I run cold, so the heated steering wheel is a must for me all winter. (edited to add: paired with a remote start option that doesn't require a subscription!)

Definitely no captain's chairs for me. Not as dog friendly, which is my big priority! That actually just prevented us from replacing my husband's car with a screaming good lease deal before subsidies expired on a Mazda plug-in hybrid. We only were interested in the CX70 because of the bench seat, but all they had available in stock were CX90s with captains chairs.

Sure. But they include in their calculations a driver and passenger who each weight 150 pounds as standard expectation. (I haven’t weighed 150 pounds since I was in high school, so I don’t know who is driving these vehicles, but whatever.)

Taking one passenger out of the equation still means decent cargo capacity.

They don’t include more than the driver and one passenger—regardless of the seating arrangements—in payload calculations; you have to do that yourself and you have to take from what’s left after the higher trim level junk…er stuff...that’s been included. Being able to fit additional passengers because the seats allow it isn’t in their calculations. All the extra stuff, including the heavier motors to allow lay-flat seats, seventeen extra speakers, a foot massager, the hot tub under the rear seat, etc., are why the higher trims are so much less capacity-capable.

Captain chairs aren’t exclusive features and can often be optioned on the lowest trim too. So I’m confused too.

They used to be. I think it became a standard feature or option and so now they have to add other things as possible options to distinguish the trims.

At least that’s as I understand it. But I almost never even look at trim levels high enough to include some features...

All the high trim super duty trucks don’t have a bench seat option.

InFords it stops at the Lariat trim, but you can’t option it on Platinums, King Ranch, or Limited packages. They told me they can’t custom order them either. (It’s also a PITA to swap the center console for a jump seat with AC ducts and different wiring harnesses)

Higher end trims typically have lower payload capacities due to more speakers, heavier seats, cladding, etc. sometimes there are exceptions if beefier suspension, axles, gear ratios, etc. is a part of that package.

A lot of offroad focused vehicles
have lower payloads than the rest of their other packages. So it’s a concern.

In the roadmap I looked at there will be far less of them produced for the first few years. They plan to ramp up over time to build the demand and rapport with the market.

There will be a 3 row model a few years after the Terra and Traveler launch. Most likely a Travelall.

So they would be competing with Tahoes, Suburbans, Yukons, and Yukon. When you combine their sales numbers from last year, that totals up to around 236,857 units.

I am also assuming they are hoping to capture government and commercial contracts as well. As a domestic automaker they will be eligible and more competitive for lucrative deals.

They would make ideal vehicles for Border Patrol, Beach Patrols, Park Rangers, Local Police, Delivery Services, etc. and it will be cool to see what commercial offerings they cook up.

Okay peeps another question. I always have questions. The other day SM posted on social media another picture and part of the caption was “an analog compass if you want it”. I just assumed they all were going to come with one. This would lead one to believe they may not. It might be an option.

I love that darn compass. That teaser picture they released before reveal with the compass I literally went and told my husband oh my god there’s a compass on the ceiling!

So I would totally pay for it if it were an option. It got me thinking tho, what about a vintage package. In my vintage package I would like the compass, plaid inset in the seat or possibly the door panel, but I’m not as familiar with the vintage Scouts.

What other fun vintage throwbacks could be included in a vintage package?

Yes, context is also important, since this will be Scout Motors first drop. Some considerations that come to mind:

1. Scout will leverage VW's massive buying power, which should result in strong value
2. Scout has set a bar around ~$60K for entry (and there has been no talk of that being a stripped-down model)
3. Scout will likely offer ~3 or so "packages" at launch and they will all be HIGHLY scrutinized and reviewed, don't see corners being cut
4. Scout would be following other OEM's by providing ~$10K or so pricing tiers between packages
5. Scout can sell all the accessories they want (and offer to have some of them factory-installed) on top of each tier
5. Launch vehicles don't always need generate maximum margins to be successful for the OEM - they can build in more margin after launch perhaps offering products with even more "mass appeal" in the future (think Rivian R2).

My guess is that we will see very high value and compelling vehicles wherever final pricing lands.

but if it was a cost option I would totally pay for it. My Scout has to have a compass. Like it’s a necessity.

I would def exchange a compass for a drop-down overhead sunglass holder (if that was a configuration option). I would use the sunglass holder virtually every time I get in the truck when its not raining.

Despite using a compass all the time while maintaining a heading in a boat (even with GPS and smart tracking), I would be surprised if I ever actually used the compass in practice from the truck (if I am being honest), although it is a nice nod to the heritage of Scout

It is a want, not a need. But, I think it is just part of the new Scout. I hope it is standard. But, I would also be ok with a sunglasses holder too.

I’d love to be onboard but with prescription sunglasses I’d use that WAY more than a compass. It’s cool but as an option-I’d have to see the cost first then see if sunglasses holder is a variable in the decision process

Nope. Just where the compass is. Or maybe a clip case that could mount on the center dash rail and look cool.

My sunglasses came in a metal case that looks kind of like a submarine. I keep it in the little pocket in the door. There’s an indent which I think is supposed to be another cup holder and it fits perfectly in there.
