  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
The Grenadier has steelies but I thought they were actual steelies. Defenders have steelies, what are those made of?
The ones on the Defender are actually Alloy wheels. I think the weight of Steelies affect ride and handling of modern heavy cars so brands rely on Alloys. I could be wrong and if so please someone correct me, I love to learn.

I don’t know about the Defender but I’m 99% sure the steelies on the Grenadier are steel. I just remember people complaining of rust on the lugs on those wheels. That car weighs 6000 pounds. Do we know how much the Scout is projected to weigh?

I was there, I have to say these pictures are not quite color accurate. They're too saturated. For instance the seats in the Traveler aren't that red in person.
Completely agree. Wish they were that saturated. Was it super sunny while you were there? NYC was shade and sunny so got to see both extremes on the color saturation but iPhone just didn’t pick it up as strongly

Yeah I was there at the same time as OP. I'll post a some shots in a few minutes - not as pretty but probably closer to what you'd actually see.

I touched my first Scout today.

It was awesome to meet Jamie and Chris. Its so cool that Scout has people that are genuinely excited about their products. Speaking of which I heard some exciting unofficial tid-bits here and there and look forward to more official details rolling out as we inch closer to launch.

Didnt stay too long. Chris and I joked but the last 16 miles to get there took over an hour, and I was ready to get back home before I got there.

I wanted to take more photos but the Zoom on the iPhone Air sucks without a dedicated telephoto, and lighting was challenging as the sun was just blasting us as it was setting for the day.

Also got to meet @AndyS_OSU while I was heading out. Well met my dude.

One of the gals there stopped me to offer a little swag too, which was nice.

That’s great. But you know the hand that touched the scout will fall off in 24 hours. Fortunately I’m left handed and still have that one. It’s a blessing and a curse

Glad you got a chance to see it in person and fun meeting others from the forum. The tidbits you get from them are the best part. Makes you feel like you’re part of the team. So what did you think-seeing them in person?

They look like they have plenty of room for my posse. Was happy with what I saw as far as interior space.
Cant tell for sure without sitting in one, but I didnt want to risk the wrath of @CP1@scoutmotors.

Unfortunately I will need to keep both reservations because I still cant decide on which one to get. They are both gorgeous and have so many benefits and use cases.

I did ask both of the guys if the front subframe would unbolt or if there was a dedicated cradle under the frunk, in case someone wants to solid axle swap it down the line (AAM also makes 8 lug heavy duty axle/motor combos). They didnt know the answer but I enjoyed the little conversation we had about it.

That’s great. Unless you plan on buying two you don’t need to keep both reservations. We aren’t locked in until we place our order. When it’s our turn we can order either one in either iteration, BEV or EREV.

I did also ask about the piano black accents being on all of them. The grab handle for the tire carrier had it and that would be scratched and torn up in no time.

No solid answer, but apparently some of their internal teams are not a fan either, so I am hoping they win that battle before production.
Yeah-I think as concepts the piano black looks clean but I also know @CP1@scoutmotors wipes them down every 10 minutes. A fine texture black plastic or body color paint finish will be more ideal. Though I really liked the gun metal gray paint on the previous traveler paint scheme. That would be my first choice

Well…. Maybe I am lol.

I got some really good news recently about a mass tort I’m involved in so it’s on the table.

Yes!

I would love Matte Black, Black Bronze and textured aluminum being trim options instead.

Here's a few snapshots. The lighting was pretty harsh so it was tough dealing with the shadows. My buddy and I drove up from Austin and back just to see them. Totally worth it.

My biggest goal was just to understand exactly how big they were in person because I was concerned they'd be too big for me. I was pleasantly surprised. The traveler is smaller than I expected. At first glance, you might think it's big, but that's almost entirely due to the 35 inch tires and high stance.

I had a Rivian R1T and the Terra is noticeably longer due to the bigger bed. And those 37s are freaking huge. Not really for me but they look cool.

A few more random thoughts:
Interior really is gorgeous.
Love the denim-like fabric.
Also really like the way the frunk is open in the front so you don't have to reach over to access it. Probably a necessary feature because with the tire package and lift on these things, the hood can sit really high.

The front end shot you got is great. Just like that image.
