What would your last vehicle be if you had to decide today

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I bought this Lexus LC500 with the intention of keeping it for the rest of my life. I love naturally aspirated engines that rev. Toyota's 2UR-GSE 5.0 liter V8 is from a collaboration between Toyota and Yamaha and they'll be going away soon.

Beautiful car. I saw they are going away. How sad.

Well that-in convertible form was my second choice. That is a lovely car. If it wasn’t for the fact that I’ve always wanted a Porsche 718/Boxster since they first started manufacturing them the Lexus would have gotten my vote as well. Enjoy every minute of that beautiful car.

My best friend and I talked about "splitting" a Cayman GT4 earlier this year, but Porsche stopped taking orders. Since they've announced they will continue making performance versions, it might be something to revisit in the future . However, it does seems like all they care about now are higher profit special versions. The Porsche 4 liter 6 cylinder is a honey of an engine though!

I'm probably in it - my 2017 Land Rover Discovery HSE Td6. It has been rock-solid reliable, it goes everywhere, it's supremely comfortable on the Interstate, and it cleans up very nicely. Some 18" Compomotive wheels, 70-series AT's, rock sliders, and a bash plate, and it is lives up to the heritage of the name and more.

At the (almost) top of the trail into Yankee Boy Basin near Ouray, CO - the jeep behind mine was leaking air from its left rear tire...I'm on factory 20's with 55 series ATs. 😝. My wife is like "can we go now?"

With friends in the Medicine Bows in Wyoming.

...and somewhere in Colorado, at the end of the road. (Because past that is Wilderness...)

Sweet looking ride. I am glad to see it used as intended, many most are not.

Since I note the OP said ‘vehicle’ rather than ‘car’ I’m tempted to say P-51B (or X-wing if I’m being completely ridiculous 😆) but ok, assuming car. I’m a sucker for early 80’s/90’s lambos, but honestly I’ve always wanted a rebuilt/refurb Pantera. I think I’d take one over the Lamborghini, same reason why I think I’d prefer a P-51B over a D - it’s (a lot) less common. And they’re both real purdy. Anyone have $250k they’re willing to part with? Pretty please. IMG_7110.webp

Fair point-you found the loophole. But can you take it to the movies and park it? (Not that it was a requirement) 🤣

I'm gonna have to go with the HSV ClubSport R8 Tourer LSA, with the MANUAL transmission, in orange. A close second would be an orange CT5 Blackwing with bronze wheels also with a manual transmission.

I made this decision 15 years ago..

To OP's question on what appeals to my inner car loving soul: the simplicity of this car is very zen. Unlike modern cars that have countless mechanisms/technologies to separate you from the machine and the road, you have a 100% direct mechanical connection to all of it. The result is you really feel the drive vs just ending up there. The lack of modern comforts forces you to reconsider what you really need in life. The fact it's totally obsolete in every way means you're never chasing the next greatest thing and instead get to just enjoy life in your own swim lane. I also love the form follows function looks.
