Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I’d love to find a del sol and fix it up. They were awesome and my wife and I both love them so that I could get OK’d 😀
He got it with no AC because he said the roof came off so he didn’t need it. Where we lived in the summer it would get well over 100. In just remember the square sweat stain on his shirt when he came home from work. 😹. He loved every hot sweaty minute of it!

I didn’t attach a link because it’s behind a paywall, but how fun does this look! Just saying for us Illinois Scout owners might be an idea. 😉

Yes they have said they will have a course at the plant, but this example shows they could have a course anywhere. Even Chicago. Which happens to be 125 miles from me. Just saying.
Suppose maybe rivian would let you try out your new Scout on their course when you get it?

Well that’s not ideal.

Oooooof

On Monday morning, I spoke to a Volvo EX90 owner who reported a litany of issues with her 2025 EX90: Malfunctioning phone-as-a-key functionality, a useless keyfob, a keycard that rarely worked quickly, constant phone connection issues, infotainment glitches and error messages. I was surprised not because I hadn't heard of these kinds of problems, but because I experienced them myself over a year ago at the EX90 first drive again. At the time, Volvo said software fixes were imminent.

Today, we know the issues go deeper. To solve them, Volvo announced today that it will replace the central computer of every 2025 EX90 with the new one from the 2026 EX90. It's a tacit admission that the company can't solve the EX90's issues while simultaneously launching its next-generation software-defined vehicles, and that it's easier to replace the original computer than to build bug-free software for it. But for some, the damage to the Volvo brand has already been done.”

The damage to the Volvo brand was done way before this. This is just piling on.

BMW had a great one in a very small area at their plant in SC. With the land SM has and the wooded areas I suspect they’ll come up with something amazing!
It all hinges on whether SC changes their anti DTC law or not.

After watching that hearing in the SC legislature eatlier this year that Cody Thacker and several others attended, it sure looked to me like the dealer lobby has a tight stranglehold on the legislature.

I believe they planed a factory experience center, that could include an off-roading experience with or without DTC.

I’ve said it elsewhere and I’ll say it again. I don’t see how the “no DTC sales” laws would stand up to an anti-trust challenge at the SCOTUS.

This is why I don't complain about waiting 2+ years for a Scout. Plenty of time for the talented engineers to get it right. Customers should not be test pilots. Rushing product to market and relying on software updates to fix problems is not a good way to do business. It killed Fisker and apparently lost Volvo a loyal customer.

Ever since Volvo was sold to Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, it really has not been the same company. I would never buy a Volvo today (unless it was used and was a boxy old station wagon from 1985).

Ha! That’s what I learned to drive in. A 1973 Volvo station wagon that was built like a tank. I agree. I would never buy a new one.

I feel the same way about Volvo (and Lotus and Polestar, also Geely-owned). I'm also conflicted because I want Volvo to exist. Ford could have done a better job when they owned them. I'm still saddened that Saab isn't around anymore.
