Hello All,
I recently leased a limited 2025, AWD Ioniq 5 with NACS (and a rear wiper!), while awaiting an R2, Slate or Scout (all of which I have a reservation for as of now).
I like how its clamshell shade closes the unopenable pano roof (I'm ok with it being unopenable. We almost never open the Q5 PHEV pano roof front). At least it has a shade.
I still want, even in the Ioniq 5:
1. Dimming side mirrors (my A5 and Q5 Audis do this).
2. lock/unlock sensors on doors in the rear door handles and rear hatch (Q5 does this and they are handy).
3. Center console USB - C (not down in the floor, which makes no sense).
4. A wireless charger that doesn't just heat my phone but actually charges it.
5. Dials for HVAC like my Audi's that have the temp displayed in the dials (or the heated/vented seat stage). Can't see or feel the IONIQ 5 HVAC controls underway, especially in the sun.
6. No ADB (Adaptive Driving Beams) which may have shown you the deer. just "auto highbeam headlights" which are not the same as ADB.
7. No Dashcams and no parking mode dashcam or Sentry.
8. Cloud connect is not as good as Rivian or Tesla. You can 'request' to do a lot of things, including looking at still camera views but nothing in real time.
9. Can't stop charging session in the controls inside the car, or so I can't figure that out. Only the app or by the charging port.
10. All Displays are too low for me and there is about 8 inches of dash I can see that I don't need to see. I have a long torso and the center display and instrument cluster could be higher or the seat could go lower.
11. Hyundai supplied adapter doesn't lock and can be pulled during a public level 2 charging session. The DC Fast/Level 3 that is supplied does lock. Any NACS connection locks.
12. No Factory Hitch (Scout won't have this problem). AFter market require cutting the bumper in most cases (not doing that on a lease) or one, U-haul, hangs ver low and reduces ground clearance. Not going to be a problem for Scout.
14. No Geofencing at home to not unlock or open the doors (Rivian has this and I imagine Tesla).
15. Doors unlock when I have my Wife's locked phone (or mine) with digital keys near the car, yet haven't unlocked the phone. I've tried this with no Apple Watch (which works as a digital key too) and no FOB nearby. You Can't drive away (have to unlock the phone and open the app, it seems, to verify you are who you are) but can unlock the door with a lost or stolen phone. not good.
16. Small Frunk only good for cords/adapter and level 1 charger or small items).
17. I'd prefer the 'physical key' integrated into the FOB, like Audi's rather than a separate thing dangling from my keychain.
18. ADAS is finicky but just getting used to it.
19. Like the blind spot cameras but are too low in the instrument cluster and not where I'm looking when turning. I'd prefer them in the Head Up Display more than main screen.
20. OH, getting the $400 chargepoint credit has been a pain and not done yet after 6 weeks of trying.
21. No Spare, only 'fix a flat kit' .
While the list seems long, there are a lot of great things about the EV that would take a book to write.
Future things I'd like to see:
A. Inductive Charging in my garage and in public.
B. Solid State Battery in an EREV.
C. Good Integrated Bed Liner in Terra and Integrated Tonneau as well as Spare.
Cheers
