How would you build your Scout?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
If Scout comes out with a turquoise with copper accents, I might have to try much harder to justify trading in my Lightning for the Terra.
Good thing we live so far apart because the right shade of teal with Bronze times is high on my list -probably same level as butter yellow but that is the homage to first one but either would be top choices

Terra Harvester (unless they can’t hit at least 8k towing, then BEV)
  • Green, ideally like my profile pic.
  • Standard 33” tire is great by me.
  • Cabana roof, I want to ride down to the beach open-air.
That’s pretty much it as far as the exterior goes. I’m likely going to put some aftermarket side-mount tool boxes on as well.
  • I really like the overall scheme of the Terra concept, so probably something like that.
  • Bench Seat is a definite. I’ll always opt for a bench seat as long as they’re an option.
  • Rubber floor. Carpet in a truck is just… dumb
I don’t demand much on the interior. If it has basic cruise control and mirror, and my phone can hook up for music, I’m happy.

So on the green truck. My Dad had a ‘76 Ford F-150 Explorer while I was growing up. Regular cab, 8’ box. Absolutely loved that truck. After I was out of High School I had the truck, though it was in disrepair and barely driveable. I never was able to as a young man get enough money together to fix it up. It went to one of my nephews who my brother-in-law and him fixed it up. Now the thing is babied, parked in a garage and gets out to the local car shows.

A few years back I went to trade in my previous F-150. It was bright, race red. Fun truck, but growing family I decided to get a crew cab. Found the truck I wanted, green exterior, had every option I wanted. Unfortunately, when I went to the dealer it was no longer listed online. They were on the case, they did find it (It was at a different dealer about 150 miles away) and I went ahead and made the purchase and handed my truck over with them giving me a loaner for a few days. I get a call the next day and they explained the reason I couldn’t see it online anymore was because it had been hail damaged, and therefore wasn’t sellable. I was devastated. I had searched for almost a year for the perfect truck (should have just ordered one). Alas, they got me one very similar but in a bronze fire color. It’s been a good truck for the last 9 years… but damnit I want my green truck!

You should get your green truck!

Honestly, no clues till options are presented. Not sure if Scout is going to do a Founders Edition or a Heritage Edition. Then will need to see how I feel - do I want something that will be visibly distinctive from general production or not.

That said have a Traveler EV, would prefer a hard top, preferably reinforced and insulated. Depending on tire option limitations, not even sure if I want the rear tire carrier. Rear tire carriers are a bit a pain in the ass - but it will add flexibility and scream off road (it might also scream Scout-but I think the Scout will be easily identified either way).

Keep in mind you’ll have a frunk so majority of daily activity that needs storage might be accomplished there so you won’t need access to the rear as often as with an ICE suv. Imagine being able to park for groceries and be able to just toss in the front so you will be able to pull through on spots and not have to worry about clearance at the rear of your traveler or swinging open the tire carrier

BEV Traveler
  • Up to 15 gallon fresh water tank wherever the Harvester’s fuel tank was going to be located, if there’s space
What a great idea. My dad had stainless steel tanks custom fabricated to fit in the wheel well behind the rear tire (1967/800), one on each side. They were 7.5 gallons each. The traveled a lot in canyon country so they were a real boon.

It’ll depend on the person. We use our frunks for emergency gear, charging gear, muddy, dirty, wet gear, etc. It’s not—for us—an every-day use. But others use it every day.

There are many threads about colors and features and interiors and exteriors. I thought it might be fun to have one place to talk about how we would build our Scouts. At some point Scout is going to send us an email that says the time has come. You can build and order your Scouts. We have no idea what they are going to offer but we can dream.

At the moment I have two ideas:

Traveler
Yellow
Dark grey roof
Bead lock wheels - dark grey
Colored brake calipers - blue
Tow hooks same blue color as the brake calipers
35 inch tires
Two tone dark grey/light grey vegan leather interior
Wood grain interior trim pieces in a grey/blue color
Dark carpet with Rubber floor mats
Glass roof
Rock slider/step

Or

Traveler
Yellow
Light roof
Light grey/chrome bead lock wheels
Colored brake calipers - red
Tow hooks the same red as the brake calipers
35 inch tires
Saddle leather interior - dark brown/lighter brown two tone
Hemp wood natural color trim
Dark carpet with rubber floor mats
Glass roof
Rock slider/step

The three features I am totally unsure of are the bench seat, Rallye stripes and to Harvester or not to Harvester that is the question.

I do not off road so I didn’t include things like air suspension and brush guards and winches or things required for towing. And I don’t want the roof rack with lights.

How would you build your Scouts??
Torn between either the Traveler or the Terra.

- Dark Grey or White exterior
- Red Leather interior
- Hemp wood or the aluminum lookin trim around inside
- Glass Roof - Pano sunroof hopefully
- Black rims - 18" or 20"
- Off Road package
- Coil Springs for me No air suspension
- Harvester option

Behold! THE BUMBLE BEE

  • Terra Harvester, just as you see it above. Though after a lot of research here and other places I’m feeling real comfortable with the BEV.
  • 33” pizza cutter tires of some description.
  • Black aero wheels if they don’t look too clunky.
  • I think the rear tire carrier would look great on this tho its not a deal breaker.
  • Don’t need dif. Lockers or sway bar disconnect.
  • Don’t really care about heated/cooled seats/steering wheel—unless they are not extra.
  • I like the interior of the concept Terra.
  • Rubber floor mats but still with a nice carpet underneath.
  • Bench seat w/folding console.
  • Rear opening window.
  • No skimping on the displays and software. I’d like to be able to completely customize the look and organization of all informational displays. Particularly for driving parameters. I’m thinking of the principle of first order of retrieval.
  • The ability to slave an iPad to the display for extra screen if I like. And the ability to move screen modules on and off of the iPad as well.
  • A full set of quality charger adapters, and a level I/II charger for emergencies.
  • I like the existing understated bumper and tow hook set up.
  • Probably a steel roof but if there is a good thermal mitigating glass available that would be awesome.
  • Not sure about a roof rack tho i like the idea of a light bar and mount for a starlink.
  • Premium sound system; maybe.
  • Some kind of unobtrusive slider/step, not a power fold out. Those seem like a smash magnet.

It should be apparent that i wont be doing much if any off-roading (though that is not completely ruled out.) i’ve had to think long and hard about WHY I want this Scout. It’s a nostalgia thing, but it needs to be useful too.

IMO power steps tuck in so close to the rocker panels that the rarely get damaged. I am not saying they cant, but I have never seen some get damaged that bad. Besides if you arent worried about lockers I doubt youll be driving over obstacles large enough to smash them.

I just hope Scout gives you the option to disable them in certain conditions like climbing ledges or shelves where you may be getting in and out to check on things and they may be close to rocks or other obstacles.

That being said, I love your list and cant wait to see it on the road!

:) I cant wait to see it in my driveway.

That could be a problem couldn’t it. I’ll just have to behave myself.
3.5 0-60mph is obscene, and men have spent millions of dollars chasing those numbers over the years.

That’s quicker than a ’69 Hemi ‘Cuda, quicker than a GNX, Turbo Supra MKIV, and even quicker than a ’90s Viper. Back in the day, you’d have to build a 10-second quarter-mile car to see that kind of launch.

I get in enough trouble with my 110hp dirt bike as it is so I am a little worried myself 🫠
