From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community!
We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.
Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.
How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.
Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.
So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.
This is what I came here for. It seems like the perfect platform for a Tune M1-- hope they might be able to work together to figure out the rear sliding window, payload capacity optimization, and suspension options to match. I've been really unsatisfied with all the other mid-side pickups on the market.
Yes, one of the features I’ve wished for in a midsize pickup for a long time! I just don’t know of any camper shells that accommodate that design feature, so hoping that could be accomplished.
El futuro de las pick-up camperizadas puede ser muy parecido a esto, en las zonas donde las inclemencias climáticas no te impidan usarlas sin que salgan volando!! Creditos: @karavandogadunya...

I'm planning to use my terra for surf adventures so a pop up camper that is consistent with the styling would be incredible.
My wishlist in case someone at Scout ends up working on this:
- Add some extra width like a Tune M1 camper, with side hatches for gear access and a glass rear hatch for visibility through rearview mirror.
- Something hardsided like an alaskan camper that's able to handle 4 seasons
- A pass through window that lines up with the rear window of the cab and allows for climbing into cab and storing long objects like skis and surfboards within the locked camper instead of the roof.
- Queen bed over cab
- Surfboard/gear racks and lots of solar on roof
- Lighting and ventilation
- Access to outlets in bed for electric heating, cooking, AC, etc.
Alternatively a mid gate with a (solar panel covered?) tonneau cover would be pretty cool too.
The Moonlander X is definitely checking several of your requirements.
They offer standard or extended side pods so you sleep sideways with 6' to 7' of sleeping length. This definitely maximizes space for short bed trucks.
Bed panels can tuck away into overhead storage area.
Has decent aerodynamics.
Solar options.
Prewired for a solar generator.
Has fan options.
Queen sized bed is optional.
You can also use the bed as a giant couch.
Thule rack rails are optional.
Lighting is optional.
4 Season Insulation package is optional.
Marine decking on the roof is optional.
Pass through window is optional.
Hard sided.
Tons of window options but no hard side panels.
The retro circular window options would match the Scout vibe.
No moving parts like pop ups either.
Your surfboards could also be nosed into the overhead storage area allowing you to close the tailgate without having to stick it through the cab.
If @Jamie@ScoutMotors is listening, a remote mount rear view camera option would be awesome for folks that use aftermarket camper shells.

I'd say the Scout Campers YoHo will fit the Terra as another insulated option similar to the Moonlander. Based on them supporting the R1T, I'd say that Go Fast Campers will do their GFC V2 Pro Camper for the Terra. Two other sweet campers are the Camp King Industries Outback and Super Pacific X1 Camper, but no word if they will support Terra yet.
I am putting together a list of Camper Shell options I am looking at for the Terra. Was considering a dedicated thread but I will just dump them here so we dont have more posts about the same things.

This is the newest model from Four Wheel Campers. It is like their traditional slide in, but they took a modular approach to the interior so you can buy the shell and build it out over time or switch things up depending on your needs. Highly customizable layout and lots of options. King size bed optional.

This is also a recent addition to the Four Wheel Camper lineup. The Project M is a bed mounted camper shell, not a slide in like their other models. Its a lighter, more affordable setup and great if you are into DIY projects.

The Bruin XL offers an East/West King Size bed and a lower bed platform. This would be a good option for people with larger families. It also means you can sleep in the lower portion with the top closed in severe weather... or if you want to Stealth Camp.
Not really a fan of Wedge Style pop up campers, but I think the origami hard side and mattress platform designs are very interesting. Has a positive pressure fan so you can pressurize the bedcap while youre driving and keep dust out. Integrated side accessible rack system. The entire sleeping platform is removable and you swap it with a flat panel to give you a traditional camper shell. Very robust design.
Escape the ordinary and explore off-grid with Scout Campers' lightweight, highly durable, and energy efficient campers.

I could use a 2nd truck, I want an SUV. If the Terra came with a Norweld style bed, it would make it a lot more tempting to me. If they offered a Norweld style topper.... Well it is almost the best of both worlds. That said, 2 reasons I don't already own it now. 1) My wife said NO, HELL NO. 2) Both the Norweld bed and UTE style topper are about $10k each.
I love the utility of the flatbed on my Taco. But a flatbed on a full sized truck would be have more utility. I could build the topper myself (done that once already-but it would be MUCH nicer on a flatbed (could be wider). If they could get the Norweld style bed down to a couple K option... Damn, I might have to change my reservation. Of course, I would still prefer it to be 6.5' over 5.5'.
----
Which ultimately would mean nothing to Scout-it would not be another sale, just a different one. So I will not hold my breath.
----
fwiw, If I build my own, I would probably put a tractor trailer style mini-split on it. It would be nice if I could easily steal AC from the cab, but I would find a work around if not.

Sounds like a big decision. You don’t need to make it now. There’s no need to change your reservation. When it comes time to order you cab order either the Traveler or Terra, the BEV or the EREV. we aren’t locked in until we actually place our order.

Damn. Those are pricey and I'm guessing massive range and efficiency killers (other than the wedge types). I considered a GFC for my Rivian, but don't camp frequently enough to really justify it... Maybe in my future retirement!

I have been doing some reading and apparently they arent as bad as towing a trailer but its still noticeable. And the price is.. yeah I can see how it would be prohibitive. My wife isnt outdoorsy so I am trying to find a good compromise that makes it easier for her to say "YES!" to trips.
The Olympic Pop Up variant looks pretty aerodynamic when closed. Just going off of pictures it would probably be similar to the GFC wedge you shared. The GFC looks to be 6.25" high when closed, and the Olympic is taller (Cant find specific measurement) but its surfaces are much smoother and rounded.
Chat GPT estimates an Olympic pop-up would drop range on a Terra with Harvester down to 390-445 miles of range due to its weight and drag. And the BEV variant would be around 250-300 miles of range per charge.
Those GFC campers look pretty versatile though. You could still stuff a ton of gear in there and I could see it being left on full time unless you need to haul something tall.
