Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. Yes. Years ago when the Solar was installed that electric service amount was $15.01 now $25. But it is WAY better than the $250/mth I was paying before Solar.
They should just require the hook up and if you ever need it it’s 5x going rate at the time of use. Ridiculous to force people do they justify it because your solar is somehow creating a hardship beyond them making money from you? 🤣

I agree to an extent, people are looking at the market trying to make something work for them and in some cases it just won’t.

I do wish, the scouts would have a little extra buffer to account for the winter months as it’s pretty shocking to see how less efficient EVs become. I have an Ariya that sees 270-280 spring, summer and fall, this winter I was seeing 170-190, which is pretty drastic. It’s one of my biggest concerns having a harvester model on reserve as well; potentially seeing 70-80 miles of EV during the winter.

All in all, I’m mostly saying I can see where people’s desires for more range/bigger battery are coming from.
I would suggest that's more of an Ariya thing than a general "EV" thing. Some companies do EVs better than others. My old Leaf would also lose a significant amount of range in the winter but my current Ioniq 5 does not. Hopefully Scout will do EVs more like Hyundai/Kia than Nissan/Toyota.

Your experience with the Ariya is not representative of EVs in general as the Ariya is not a particularly great EV platform. I'm not sure why the Japanese brands are so far behind in EVs but the Ariya has slower charging than you'd expect at the price point, lower range that it should have at that price and is somehow less efficient than it should be given it's jelly-bean shape. I'm not sure what Nissan did to make it so middling but it's not as good an EV as it should be and certainly doesn't represent the state of the art. Don't worry though, you aren't alone. The BZ4X has similar issues.

Toyota went way too deep into the pockets of the Oil & Gas Lobby in Japan. Lost their edge years ago and were trampled during the growth and innovation phase of Pure EV's. They basically capitulated what could have been a big lead given the early success that they had with the Prius. They are now playing catch-up. I honestly thought they would have had the 1st EV truck to market (in the form of some Tacoma variant) when my mom bought her first Prius. The good news is that Rivian came along, and Scout will now eat the rest of their lunch right here in the USA.

We owned several Prii (first, second, third, and fourth generation). I was convinced they would lead the way with BEVs. Then they just kept making hybrids and never innovated on battery technology… They dominated the electric vehicle field with hybrids and totally dropped the ball when it came to meeting the future.

Toyota's vision of the future was hydrogen. Took too long to realize hydrogen was unworkable with both fuel supplies and fuel cell technology.
