  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

I am just guessing here, but they will probably do a tour with experience centers or pop ups where people can check them out and test drive them on a weekend in various places.
I would imagine is going to be a lot like Rivian. They have Rivian Spaces where you can go see colors and materials and setup a test drive and they keep opening more and more locations. I would imagine as time goes on Scout will have more and more locations of whatever they are going to call this locations.

My apologies.

I thought they were asking about how to test drive them before they launch.

You are probably right about the experience center model. Makes a lot of sense.

Yes,
Thank you both for answering. I reserved a Terra with Harvester, and
I wanted to see how it drives and compare bench seating, and other features before purchase.
Oh same! The feature I am most unsure about is that bench seat!

However, maybe there is someone who bought one of the first Rivians on here, and I have a question. The very first people who placed Rivian orders (not just reservations) did you order them based on pictures and specs? Were you able to see them in person? Were you able to test drive prior to purchase or was your first experience with the vehicle when you went to pick it up?

I have Traveler- Harvester reserved, I've been thinking about putting a reservation down for the Terra though.

The interior dimensions on the Traveler might not be the best for taller folks and I'm just hoping the Terra has similar interior dimensions to other similarly sized pickups

Welcome to the community! It’s my understanding you can just leave the reservation and then when it comes time to actually order you can order whichever vehicle you prefer. From what I have read your selection doesn’t become locked in until the actual order is placed.

Welcome!

As stated, you can change your reservation up to the point when you finalize the order. At this point, it's basically a placeholder.

Oh thanks I thought Traveler reservations were locked in to either EV or harvester Traveler models, and the same for Terra reservations. Glad to hear one reservation can be used to pick from any of the 4 options available.

I thought the same thing. I keep going back and forth between BEV and EREV. I was happy to find out we have until we place our order to make up our minds. So I can change my mind a million more times between now and then!

Haha I think I'm just gonna come up with a checklist and go with the option that gets the most right and if there are multiple options that fit the bill then a good old coin toss can decide for me

I do have a question now that I don’t have the answer to. Does anyone know when it comes time for us to place our orders do we all get access to the ordering system at the same time? Is the ability to place our order determined by our place in line?

I may be doing the same thing!

A good follow here is @Jamie@ScoutMotors He keeps us updated with the goings on at SM.

There’s lots of information in this forum and if you don’t know something just ask. Someone invariably knows the answer or has something to say about it. 😹

To me, it would make sense to let you configure yours first so they can put certain orders into batches that have similar options to speed things along.

They mention you keeping your place in line if you change which vehicle you want, but it seems the options you choose will impact when it’s actually built.
