Bench Seat vs Standard

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

The bench option with a fold down console would be best of both worlds, you would be able to utilize storage as well as passenger capacity. and an optional captain chairs with a solid center console for those who don't like bench seats all that much would be the best approach to the selling market.
100% agree. Gets one extra passenger when you know you’ll regularly need that space

Isn’t that what they are doing already? I thought they said the bench would have storage and cup holders And then obviously the captains chairs and an option?
I thought that was how it was explained at the reveal, if not shown? It’s been a minute, I don’t remember what was shown, but I remember something like that being said.

Bench barely even made it in the truck before reveal so there was no fold down console. There will be one with cup holders per prior forum conversations with our beloved leader Jamie

Same. I thought it was a fold down console in the middle. But here is my question. I have lots of questions. If the seat is broken into 3 sections essentially will the sections move independently of each other? Could the passenger recline their seat or move it forward or backward without affecting the driver? And is it going to be comfortable? It looked like it had a bolster on the side near the door but then it’s just flat and how is that going to feel? See, many, many questions and once I get going I don’t stop.

All very good design questions. I am sure they have their seating people mocking up a dozen different ideas. We will just have to wait and see which ones shake out.

Note: look at the current SUVs and Crossovers rear "bench-seating" separate articulation and generally very comfortable. However if they would lay flat they would be extremely uncomfortable to sleep on. It will be tough to have both worlds.

I just can’t 🤣. Please don’t. As much as I have occasional days when I want to smack you straight for antagonizing people I genuinely like what you bring to the forum (most the time 🤣) and don’t want to see Jamie toss you out. While I’d laugh every time I can’t encourage this. I’m deleting my post just to help protect you from being escorted out of here 😀. Stay on course-you’ve been doing well.

I deleted mine and put the reason for delete as J Alynn. I wonder if they ever read them, I normally always put something in it.

My old Ford had a 60/40 front bench, with the 20% center folding down to make a console (it lived folded down 95% of the time, and it always scared me to fold it up because the latch did not always hold). That console was slightly wider than my current Ford, but not nearly as deep (the deep console holds more, but requires a lot of digging to get to the bottom). The bench and seat backs were sculpted, just not as deeply as captains chars (it was possible to lay across). FWIW, the second row of our minivan is 40/20/40 with the center section removable - so in theory that might be another option if laws allow for that. You could in theory remove the 20 and drop in an removable console (or ice chest) in the spot - but you would probably loose arm rests.

Hondas and Acuras function that way on some vehicles so a removable center 20 is definitely a possibility
