Driver assistance features while towing

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

We plan to buy a Traveler Harvester, 80% of the miles we put on it will be towing a travel trailer. I hope at that least adaptive cruise control and lane centering will be supported in tow mode. They relieve a lot of stress. The separation distances with adaptive cruise control should increase while towing to account for increased braking distances. More advanced features like hand-free driving might be nice for some when towing, but we personally would not use them. When not towing yes, but not while towing. The possible consequences of a glitch are too severe.

If I purchase a Scout, it would be with the intent to replace my current daily driver, that i use for off-road, commute and pulling a trailer. One thing that would be a great feature is the ability to use the Scout while camping as power source to power the trailer. Built in dynamic trailer braking and stiffing the rear shocks in a tow mode would also be great.

Traveler Harvester max towing capacity at the moment is 5,000lbs this is subjected to change since everything is still in R&D phase.

assuming the R1S can tow in the 7k range, I would hope to see the scout fall suite, I know nothing is set in stone. my current vehicle is right around the 5k mark for towing.
Cheers

Pure EV Traveler is around 10,000lbs.

It’s believed that Harvester will see less capacity due to how the frame will be used having Harvester in the Back with mounting and bracing.

My recollection of the Jay Leno interview is that the BEV Terra is about 10,000, the BEV Traveler is about 7000, and the unspecified Harvester is about 5000. A lot of angst over the Harvester number. My guess is Scott misspoke slightly, that 5000-ish is the Traveler Harvester and the Terra Harvester is 8000-ish. All subject to refinement (hopefully upward) of course.
