What do you all do? Curious about Scout buyers occupations, or former occupations.

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Back in those days it was all one off CPUs and thus compilers. IIRC there was actually a detonate instruction, this was around 1980. I worked for SofTech near Boston, the military side was at Wright Patterson AFB near Dayton. We had to do all the development using TI Silent 700 terminals over 300 baud acoustic couplers.
A lot of the docents are former military including the Lt Col that works with me who was working on MX. It's a great group of experienced people I get to work with.

Registered Dietitian -experience across a variety of settings. I began my career working with high school and collegiate student athletes, where I developed nutrition plans to support performance, recovery, and address eating disorders. I advocated for additional funding to support athlete nutrition programs, e.g., fueling stations, travel meals for games, and increased student-athletes' meal plans, as some required 6k/kcal a day. Later, I transitioned into geriatric nutrition within long-term care facilities, focusing on managing chronic diseases, preventing malnutrition, and providing artificial nutrition support. Recently, I’ve started to branch into private practice, beginning to build a client base in individualized nutrition counseling.

Software sales for the last 10 years; it hasn't been a direct path, and sadly its far from a passion - but the product(s) I sell are best-in-class (by a long length) and it pays the bills, so I plan to do it a couple more years (one kid still in college) and then find something I can be more passionate about. Prior to this many things, usually around product sales and/or development - even had a job I was passionate about once, but the 2008 crash took that (and the majority of our savings and retirement) away so here we are.

Ok, time to get to my Monday of weekly status calls....

So Scout Motors is coming to Blythewood SC where I live. I’m just trying to join the team. Any help or directives please let me know. Email is jamel.jyoung@gmail.com

Scout. “People. Connections. Community. Authenticity." Welcome to the Scout community. Enjoy the ride. 🛻 🚙

Started bussing tables when I was around 7 at my parents restaurants, and would also wash dishes when the dishwasher went on a crack binge for a week or two.

At around 13 I was a prep cook and dish washer.

Joined the Air Force right after high school and was graduated at top of my class as a vehicle maintenance technician. I worked on anything that didnt have wings and enjoyed my job, but started having some serious health issues and had to leave.

When I got out I turned wrenches professionally doing heavyline diesel repairs for about 7 years before transitioning to construction then ultimately IT by asking a lot of questions and gathering certifications along the way.

I work in a university now in the Classroom Technology department and love it.

Get a teachers retirement pension plan, great benefits, and lots of time off. Took a pretty steep pay cut coming from the private sector though.

The main reason I am here is because my kids get free tuition. I have 4 kiddos and that will be pretty pricey otherwise. Everything I do is for them.

Planning for the kiddos futures was a worry for me early on. Sounds like you have a good plan!
