[Terra] Double cab with a 6.5' bed

Would love to have an option for a slightly longer (6.5') bed with a slightly shorter (double) cab.

We don't need a lounge in the back seat. When they are occupied, they would mostly be occupied by kids. So a double cab would be a perfect fit.

On the other hand, having a slightly longer bed would be a big advantage for a camper shell build.

This could be accommodated easily since the wheelbase and length of a double cab w/ 6.5' bed would be the same as the crew cab w/ 5.5' bed.

My initial hesitation is based a day like today where we keep getting more and more erratic storms, the skies open up and drop like 2” of rain per hour. Bed fills super quick and general water pressure finds a weak spot and/or a scratch from hauling sits in water. It’s about all the ways water can damage. That’s where I questioned it but to each their own. Seems like a complicated and expensive leak waiting to happen and SM doesn’t need a headache like that

Yup! My truck cap leaks slightly in two spots with heavy rain. Its at these small gaps at the front corners of the bed. Installed at reputable ARE dealer who did seal everything including that spot, but water will find a way like you said and thats the weak spot. Also why I dont want a sunroof and to add to that some manufacturers roof rails have holes in the sheet metal waiting for a leak that they rarely admit though late 20 teen Rav4s did get a TSB type recall for that they will repair if there is a leak for up to 10 years from manufacture. So the engineering for something you'd assume is a no brainer isnt always there.
