Swap parts between terra and traveller

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Do we know? If a guy buys a traveller and a Terra. And chooses to part out one 20 years from now. What % of parts can swap over? Bearings, shocks, sway bar links.. buttons.. door handles. If I get both Im the kind of guy to use.. used parts.. I paid for them I should be able to keep them. The more these 2 have in common, the better.

Upper and lower ball joints.nrubber just rots. Away. You would think the car industry could make rubber that doesn't rot away in 20 years. But they just like to keep selling parts and making money on those parts so they can't fix rubber

I'm hoping Scout has done a proper design, using as many shared parts as possible to minimize production costs. As for the rubber, some people complain about NVH on more durable solutions, but each time I've replaced rubber with polyurethane or similar, I couldn't tell a difference. It's like adding 5hp to a 500hp car, my butt dyno can't tell the difference...

Yes. I can't tell the difference but I've seen why vehicles all across the country get junked. It's not the engine or transmission. It's the rusted out frame and rubber rott. On an EV it seems like a good idea for the country, not just individuals

Yeah.. what a joke. The rubber bushings, seals grommets are what sells the replacement part. Now if evs last 2-3 million miles battery.. they're running scared. It's not the limiting factor. Lol. The cities are designed around the automobile.. not a walking human. The auto industry has the people locked in. They know if you can repair and the parts are long lasting is a diminishing return. Anti American person.. pro, the people who can afford to play their game.

Little rubber parts.. make huge ✈️ and tanks.. all the machines broken down junk. Just write another check for new junk.. instead of going to the source of the problem. Friction in those joints.. automotive arthritis.. private company government contracts. Selling junk

Elon knew reusables like the rockets.. not just cut checks for more junkyards.

An
engineering estimate for the total number of rubber O-rings, gaskets, grommets, and fluid seals in a single modern main battle tank (like the American M1 Abrams or German Leopard 2) is between 10,000 and 15,000 individual rubber sealing components.
Because a modern tank is built from millions of parts, it is a literal maze of high-pressure fluid and electric systems. The breakdown of where these thousands of rubber seals are hidden includes: [1]

"The tank broke down.... Need a new one.".. yup.

To answer your question best I can at this early stage, it is in our best interest cost-wise and inventory-wise to utilize as many common parts as we can. How that plays out in the end product remains to be seen, but I would expect there to be a lot of carryover. They are the same common platform, with the wheelbase length being the main differentiator.
