Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

My wife and I own a 2018 Tesla Model 3 which has mostly kept up to date as a software defined vehicle which got me thinking more about which features to expect or which we hope don't appear when the Scouts come out in 27/28. The list below is Tesla biased but serves as a fairly comprehensive starting point. I added 4x4 maps as a feature. My question is which of these features do you feel are a must and which if any would you pass on. What would the perfect set of features look like to you.
  • OTA updates
  • Driver profiles
  • Drive modes (chill through mad max)
  • Traffic aware cruise control and Autosteer (Autopilot)
  • Full Self Driving (actually level 2 but let’s consider level 3 for this discussion)
  • Summon (car comes to you)
  • Autopark (with driver in the vehicle)
  • Forward collision warning
  • Lane departure avoidance/warning
  • Cross traffic detection
  • Stop light warning
  • Blind spot camera
  • Sentry Mode
  • Valet Mode
  • Schedule service through the car
  • Trailer profiles
  • Trunk/frunk/door open warnings
  • Dashcam
  • Child left alone detection
  • High quality navigation system (with route planning, satellite view, points of interest, rea ltime traffic etc..)
  • 4x4 route info ala OnX
  • Realtime charging station availability information
  • Voice commands
  • Integrated AI assistant
  • Cabin overheat protection
  • Camp mode
  • Pet Mode
  • Joe Mode (lowers the music volume when opening the car door)
  • Service Mode (advanced screens showing vehicle and battery metrics)
  • Carwash mode
  • Tron mode
  • Fart mode
  • Toy box – (arcade games, Karaoke, apps like YouTube, Spotify, Netflix, Zoom etc.…)
  • Low power mode (when battery is low)
  • Light Sync/Rave Cave (pulse the interior lights in time with the music)
  • Keep accessory power on (when car is parked)
  • Informative Energy App
  • Text/SMS support
  • Pin to Drive (must enter a pin code to operate the vehicle)
  • Phone as Key
  • Cabin conditioning
  • Battery preconditioning
I debated between resurrecting a year and a half old thread with three replies or starting a new one and since I have never started a thread, I went that route. Having one place for software features might be helpful too. If replies should go to another thread please let me know. I also secretly want to know what people think about fart mode. I'm personally ambivalent but the kids love it and some adults I know do as well...

Some of these are absolute necessities for modern cars, and I'm sure Scout will include them.
Stuff like
- OTA
- Driver profiles
- Misc safety features you listed (especially for a larger vehicle)
- Battery preconditioning
- Keep accessory power on/Camp mode (considering how many of us want to go overlanding and camping, this is a must. I think a mode like this was demo'ed in a UX video somewhere on youtube)
- Text/SMS support (will have android auto/carplay, so that's a given)

Then there are some nice to have features I certainly agree with you on
- Dashcam powered by external cameras would be a huge plus
- High quality navigation system (specifically if it has some trails programmed into it)
- Phone as Key (only if done well. I have a 2021 Polestar 2 rn and the phone as key is hit or miss. Since I cannot trust it I always have the fob with me anyway)

Also, some features I'd like to see that you did not list are
- V2L (not sure if confirmed?)
- launch control (Something as simple as understanding what holding the brake + the gas at the same times means is fine)
- Integrated satellite internet of some sort (Also think I saw this somewhere, not sure if planned or just rumor)

As far as cruise control, I really like how Polestar offered a basic following distance cruise control as the default, but you could option a "Pilot Assist" pack which would add steering and such. I'd love if the Scout had similar tiers of hardware / supporting software options when ordering. I personally love to drive my cars, and would much rather have a lower MSRP than be forced to purchase some sort of full suite of self driving capabilities when the most I really want is just auto following distance and _maybe_ some slight lane assist (more of a safety feature, not self driving)

And then there's some on the list I'd call gimmick features which can just stay over in Tesla land.
Fart mode, Rave mode, Tron mode, it just doesn't sound like it vibes with the Scout brand at all.

As far as an Integrated AI assistant, I really hope Scout stays away from this. We all have our phones with us that are running Siri and Gemini. Let the tech giga-giants sort out any smart capabilities, and let use talk to them through carplay/android auto if we want to. I'd much rather Scout focused development on a polished user friendly user experience where all the menus are intuitive and easy to use, rather than a half baked UX with an AI bandaid.

As for the rest, cool if they have them, fine if they don't. Even if the software does not release with all the features we want, Scout can always add more support with OTA, so I think that one is an absolute must.

Okay first note, I have never even sat in a Tesla. Just want to put that out there.

In regards to your list:

Since they are using Rivian zonal architecture and Rivians have OTA updates it would make sense that’s going to happen.
I’m hoping in the driver profiles we can setup multiple for each person. I have discussed in other threads my seat position can change depending on my shoes.
Drive modes. Is that like sport and snow, etc as well. If so I would expect that. I don’t know about Mad Max. The little bit I read on it in regards to Tesla it sounded like that mode wasn’t necessarily following the rules of the road.
Jamie has said the Scout will have Level II+ and that’s sufficient for my needs. If there was self driving and it was an extra cost I would not pay for it.
Summon and auto park are both features I would not personally use.
The next few, collision alert, lane alerts, etc I would expect a vehicle in the Scouts price range to have.
Blind spot camera sounds like a nice feature, especially as big as they are.
Sentry mode - how does that affect the battery. How much charge do you use when it’s in sentry mode. And I would want to be able to turn it off.
Valet mode sounds great.
Scheduling service through the car or app sounds like a helpful feature.
I don’t tow, I’m hoping they have a tow package that can be added if needed. I don’t need it.
I would expect it to have warnings for things left open.
A dashcam sounds great. I want that and would pay extra for that.
Child left alone, sad that we need to have that, but it happens so we need the warning.
I go back and forth between CarPlay and native system. My only concern about a native system is having to pay another subscription fee.
Realtime charging station info sounds great.
They have shown camp mode and pet mode.
Do all EVs have a car wash mode or is that a Tesla thing?
If it has a pin to drive make it optional. That feels too much like a phone feature to me.
I want a real key fob that I can carry on a lanyard.

As for fart sounds, no thanks.

However I would like some different engine noises like the Ioniq 5N. I would love the Terra race truck engine sounds as an option.

I also really want that ribbon speedometer as a gauge cluster option. I loved that in the reveal.

Big ++ for that! I'd loooove some retro speedos to pick from. If we're gonna talk "fun/gimmick" software stuff, that's def where it's at.

I don't have a car wash mode on my EV, almost certainly a Tesla thing. I can just put my car in neutral and it's just fine. That said, I will never take my Scout through a car wash, their paint to looks too damn good. Hand wash only!

You can kinda see the ribbon Speedo in this pic from reveal.

Foam cannon and leaf blower to wash and dry our current cars. My Scout will be the same!

Great response. I’m like 98% the same so you saved me a LOT of typing. I basically second this and endorse it 😀

Ok I’ll bite, what is Fart mode?

Generally speaking, you would never pay for a native system. You might pay for an upgraded "package of features" that cost the OEM additional money to deliver - totally optional but potentially invaluable. I pay an annual fee to Rivian for this - totally worth it b/c I often end up working or taking calls from my truck, or streaming (and would cost me the same just for a separate WiFi plan): https://rivian.com/connect-plus#features

Do all EVs have a car wash mode or is that a Tesla thing?
Car wash mode is very helpful if you have touch features on the exterior of the car, need to fold the mirrors, or if you don't want the car to accidently unlock and expose handles or other things... For example, the Rivian charge port can be opened by touching a spot above it near the wheel well. If a high powered jet or hose hits the sensor, it can open the charge port. Not that big a deal washing in the driveway, BUT could rip off the truck in a carwash

If it has a pin to drive make it optional. That feels too much like a phone feature to me.

AGREED 100% on BOTH!

Please no carwash mode! If it doesn't need a rain mode why is a carwash mode needed? seems to be an area ICE beats EV's, no car wash mode.

Im guessing Car wash mode has something to do with sensors around the car that operate things? like charge ports, wipers? that type of stuff? can someone confirm? @SpaceEVDriver @R1TVT

Huh? Not sure what you are talking about. Did you read my post? What is "rain mode"?

CarWash mode is super handy - not sure why anyone wouldn't want it.

I remember once a detailer power washed the engine in my BMW 318i. It wouldn’t start after. Had to wait till whatever it was that didn’t like being wet dried out. I have never let a detailer wash under the hood ever again. 😹. So if car wash mode needs to be a thing on my Scout I’m all for it.

I'm just saying if it doesn't need a mode for driving in rain, why need a car wash mode? or better yet, just don't bring your car to an automated carwash, it's horrible for the paint in the first place. But ill take a spin around your post.

what did they do? drown the engine in water? My detailer uses spray bottles for engine detailing. And when I clean my car, I skip the engine bay, because I let my detailer clean that every few months. My detailer is also My tint and wrap guy.

This was a long time ago. That car was a 1997, so probably 25 years ago. I honestly don’t remember exactly what he did. Just know he “washed the engine” and the car wouldn’t start for hours while it dried out.

In my car at least, the charge port can be opened by just pressing on it, car wash mode stops that from happening and locks the charge port so if you're either in a car wash or just using a pressure washer it won't open the charge port. It would also auto close any windows in case they were down a little without you realizing. It also stops the wipers if on auto setting, turns off the parking sensors, has an option on the screen to fold the mirrors, and has an option to enable free roll if you need that for a conveyor type of car wash.
