Scout Security System?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Will a security system, a-la Tesla’s Sentry Mode and Rivian’s Gear Guard be available? Make it an option, and I believe that it will be popular.

ONE of the (many) reasons that I walked away from my Lucid deposit was their lack of the availability of such a system in a "premium" vehicle.

With all of the cameras that are used in today's vehicles, this should be feasible.

I thought of about something that would be a big question on this sort of feature.
If you can watch the video feed online, or save the videos on the cloud, will there be a monthly subscription to use the feature?

That could be a feature that people would pay extra for. My sister has a home security camera that stores her security video to the cloud for which she pays a monthly subscription.

However, there would still be the need for some onboard data storage. If nothing else, it would be necessary as a cache for those times when the vehicle is out of range of WiFi or whatever cell provider that the Scout company chooses. I would be happy if the video and telemetry (?!?) data could be downloaded via the UI to a USB device plugged into one of the USB ports.

I agree and will add to include a dashcam feature while driving. I don't understand why Tesla is the only company that has this.
Toyota also offers this. When I go pretend car shopping and build cars that I don’t plan on buying, I add it as a feature. They offer it as something dealer installed in the rear-view mirror or as a non-Toyota-brand thing.

“Save to iCloud / Google Drive / DropBox / Our subscription service because you are not technically savvy” w/data cache? ?
Bluetooth prob. fine for file transfer... I’d imagine you’re not sharing state secrets/classified videos or something. USB would probably be faster. Idk ?‍♀️

Active cameras as sentry protection would be awesome. Dash and rear cameras recording while driving is key. With all the vehicle thefts going on, is there a way to interlock hidden features to lock starting the vehicle? Keypad on touch screen and/or programmable sequence of using the buttons etc in the Scout in a certain order? I know some aftermarket companies have hidden kill switches. I’d hate to see these fall into the hands of thieves. Maybe I’ll just get a club…..

Years ago, a buddy of mine would pop the hood after he parked and disconnect something from the engine, I think it was the lead between the coil and distributor cap (or something like that). Anyway, good luck to any thief trying to start his car!

Clubs are extremely easy to defeat & another vehicle brand has a weakness where the thief gains access to the vehicle & them plugs into the OBD2 port and presto they drive away

That’s why I said programable kill switch to be able to kill the vehicle. Even the remote app could have a passcode and facial recognition to bypass for remote controls but the physical vehicle start/operation would still require the unique sequence that can’t be ‘taken’ via obd2 etc,

Some high tech thieves are actually replacing the vehicles locked down ECU with a pre programmed one, takes a few extra minutes but they then have a new vehicle

The Ravelco anti theft device from 1979 is still one of the very best anti theft devices

Criminals will always figure a work around

Very important feature in this time period. Feel strongly that safety and security features like this should be included standard when possible. As mentioned, this could easily integrate with existing hardware and software. Just provide expandable storage (USB, etc.) for saving footage and let owners control what specific security features they want to enable or disabled through the UI.

Bluetooth isn’t fine for video file transfer, especially if it’s higher resolution video or multiple cameras. It can take 30 minutes to pull a 3 minute video over Bluetooth.

I carry a USB-C microSD reader in my center console to pull files off the dashcam quickly to send to police when needed.

My dashcam is WiFi enabled however almost all phones will give a CarPlay/android auto WiFi connection preference so it’s extremely difficult to get the phone to connect, and stay connected, to a dashcam.

Ideally it would record locally with a method to pull video over WiFi (if no CarPlay/android auto) and via usb-c.

The Hummer EV advertises a feature called UltraVision, which utilizes 18 cameras (pickup model) or 17 cameras (SUV model) to do these specific things:
    • Provides real-time views of the terrain underneath the vehicle
    • Includes waterproof underbody front- and rear-facing cameras
    • Helps drivers avoid obstacles underneath the vehicle, like rocks
    • Helps drivers monitor wheel spin and specific tire placement in certain off-roading scenarios
    • Helps drivers maneuver in almost any situation
All features that one would expect from a $100,000 USD vehicle. Yet, none are utilized for security.

PLEASE Scout Motors, implement a security recording feature for your vehicles!

I would like to see a built in tracker from Factory. All the cameras involved to work with the security system. An alarm system, or a passive system like what Most BMW have. They work like this: passive "anti-theft" system that disables the car unless the ISN (individual serial number) assigned to the chip embedded in your key, the EWS control module, and ECU/DME match. It saved my car in Trenton from being stolen with a flipper. Along with an alternating signal key fob. So its impossible to take its radio wave.

My Audi had micro dots applied for tracking which I had to look up as it was new tech. Still dont get how it worked but was nice to have. Can’t even try to explain ?
