Scout Color Poll #1

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

Why? You have to pay for white??
Everyone now adds a touch of pearl to their white so they can upcharge. Traditionally (maybe not now) white paint always required like 1-2 extra coats to get solid color finish since it is lighter. I think now a days manuf add the pearl that costs like $10 and then charges for look but really they are covering the extra coat. But I certainly could be off on my thinking

When I was younger (growing up in the UK) white was generally only on commercial vehicles and company cars and was always considered the cheap base option. That's changed now with pearl white etc. but in my head, I still think of commercial and work vehicles for white paint so I would never pick it for my own car/truck even if it was the only free color.

It’s funny-always had the same mindset then our last couple of cars were pearl white. I do like the sparkle that Lexus and Acura achieve. Wife’s pilot is pearl white and I don’t like it at all-no sparkle-ever

Green is popular (thankfully). I'm a bit surprised rivian blue has survived tbh, but I understand it's RJ's favorite color.
Knowing Rivian Blue is RJ's favorite color supports a theory I've had about it. RJ grew up restoring 356's with a neighbor and he admits that impacted his overall love of cars. With that said check out the well known 356 color called Oslo Blue...

Now I'm not saying Rivian Blue a 100% copy of this iconic color because because it isn't (Porsche would also sue if it was), but I do believe Rivian Blue is a new take on this color.

White is a popular color here in Texas because its hotter than the Devils taint on a flaming saddle in July and August. You can literally burn your hand by touching a dark car for a few seconds.

This is not an anecdotal musing though. White vehicle have around 26% of the market share here.

If I had covered parking at work I might consider more exciting colors.

I hadn’t even considered that. Makes sense. So are you planning on white yourself?

That is a beautiful shade of blue

I am hoping for a cream or warm white color, but will settle for plain white if I have to.
I like the Grenadier Scottish White (cream) and Magic Mushroom. Those are nice colors.

Magic Mushroom is on the left. Scottish white on the right. I was going to get one of those colors if I was going to get a Grenadier. But then I found the Scout and the rest is history.

I like that magic mushroom color a lot. Again. With a white top would be my go to if I wanted a pale neutral color.

Id take either one.

My inner hippie is leaning towards the mushroom though. HA

Also a fan for the English whites aka more cream white vs a stark white that's so common these days. Mini's version of this creamier color is called Pepper White. It's classic, it's mellow, and I think on the lines of the Scout, would serve it well.

Compare that to the body in white design study which, white trimmings aside, is simply too bright. I would encourage a more mellow color.

I can't remember where I read it, but I don't think this was ever actually meant to be a "production white" paint color. I think it was specifically a primer-type paint used in the design only... Could be wrong. But you are right that whatever white is chosen, needs to be more mellow. LOL.

You're correct and I should have added that caveat about what that concept car was. I have no expectation for them to use Storm Trooper White as a color, but it's the closest thing that exists to show conceptually what it could look like.

Yes. It was a “clay” model done is all white to see the massing and shapes

Don’t forget when you catch the back of your arm on the seatbelt buckle, so hot it takes your brain longer to process the pain than it does to recognize the smell of burnt hair and skin!
