Cool. I just remember it all after 2-1/2 years and felt like I did a tire poll. Glad somebody here can set me straightI don’t remember a poll. I know there’s been tire talk but I think this is the first poll.
Didn’t we already do a poll for this or am I just having a brain spasm?
Just FYI-I wasn’t questioning it to complainMy last 3 sets of tires were Kenda Klevers, and I really love those things.
Quiet on the road without sacrificing too much performance on rocks, sand, or mud. They last a LONG time too.
But they have gotten just as expensive as the big brands so I figured I would make a poll and see what everyone else is thinking.
I did a quick search earlier and didnt find a dedicated thread on it.
Haha no worries. You are normally spot on with that stuff and your memory is better than mine.Just FYI-I wasn’t questioning it to complain. Just swore we did but guess it was just tire talk so glad you set it up.
Same. I'm all about off roading/camping stuff but reality for me is majority of total miles driven are on pavement so I'd want to build towards that plus the option for off roading vs the other way around.Whatever tire will perform reasonably well in snow, rain and dry pavement. Not an off-road tire…to much wear on paved surface. 30”…maybe 32”.
A seconds set of highway 31"s could be swapped with All Terrain 35"s in about 30 minutes with no other mods required for a weekend in the dirt. Just sayin...Same. We are getting a very important button for that that most EVs dont have...On a similar topic. How many feet of rubber can one lay with an EV that has 1000 lbs of torque. And does it have posi-traction

I’ve been running DuraTracs for 35,000 miles. I do believe I will get 50,000 miles total out of them based on how they look at this time. I have been very pleased with them. Especially the one time I got a giant screw in my tire and went to the shop thinking I needed a new tire because it was kinda close to the tread edge. Nope. They just pulled it out. Said it didn’t penetrate very far and off I went.My Grand Cherokee came with Wrangler Duratracs. They were great highway tires and I got about 50k miles out of them, but not off road tires by any stretch. I replaced them with Nitto Ridge Grapplers, which I loved. They were much stickier than I expected, with a very grippy rubber compound and tread pattern with side lugs that improved traction further when aired down. I was shocked that when the tires were fresh, the on road handling was even better than the Duratracs, and off road performance was also very good. They were noisier on road than the Duratracs, and tread life was shorter. I think I got about 40k miles out of them before they were trashed. I replaced them with Nitto Terra Grappler G3 which I won't discuss since they're not an option in this poll.
Finally, I have run 35" Wrangler MTR Kevlar tires on my YJ for as long as I've owned it, but those are no longer made and I have a set of 37" Pitbull Rockers in the garage that will go on soon.
I don't think any mud terrain tire is going to contribute to the range expectations set forth by Scout, so I'm ruling those out. A number of my occasional wheeling buddies have wheeled BFG T/A KO3 on their daily drivers that they also run trails with. They have universally been pleased and I have seen those tires grip very well for them out on the trail.
So I am going with the Ridge Grappler from my own experience, or the KO3 from the experience of my buddies.
I am bummed they stopped making the MTR Kevlars. They are beautiful tires and do a fair job offroad with good on road characteristics. My Grand Cherokee came with Wrangler Duratracs.
