Do they have winter there? Their state flag has a palm tree!I imagine that everyone working on it this winter is going to be really happy about the whole "its finally enclosed from the elements" part of what I'm seeing.
And the supplier park is now on the map, thats big news too.
Was the land already prepped for that? Or is that new grading/etc that has to be done here?
I lived there for 4 years before retiring from Fort Jackson, SC nearby. I owned a home in Blythewood about 2 miles from this plant across the east side of I-77. SC does get "winter" and Dec/Jan/Feb temps can go to 20 degrees occasionally but its still usually sunny. Snow is rare and closes everything down if it does snow for a day.Do they have winter there? Their state flag has a palm tree!
Lol. Its true!Do they have winter there? Their state flag has a palm tree!
Should be part of the pick up experience. Should choose an hour or so of fishing or archery or axe throwing and maybe fire starting and cooking over open fire. Similar to the things they did at the reveal last year.Looks clean. There better be a stocked pond at the factory, so I can take my Scout fishing when I pick it up.
Where do I sign up?Should be part of the pick up experience. Should choose an hour or so of fishing or archery or axe throwing and maybe fire starting and cooking over open fire. Similar to the things they did at the reveal last year.
OK...pick on the South Carolinian's. Just to keep you honest, I-40 doesn't run through Columbia. You must have meant I-20, but not to nit pick. I never ever run on bald tires, but you did say "most" and that is true. But other than that, sounds about right!I lived there for 4 years before retiring from Fort Jackson, SC nearby. I grew up in Cleveland where I am now.
I once was getting on I-40 in Columbia, SC nearby in January. There was a slowdown to get on the highway from a cloverleaf. I thought, 'there must be an accident' causing this slowdown to 5 mph. It was snowing a dusting, maybe 1/2 an inch on the ground.
I finally got on the highway in the 'slow lane' (it has three lanes on I-40 in / near Columbia. People were all lined up in the slow lane. I thought there must be an accident again. I noticed the middle and inside lanes were without tire tracks and slightly snow covered. I was going like 20 MPH and it was snowing a little.
I got tired of this, having grown up in snow and I got in the empty middle lane. I sped up to 35 and 45 MPH and was passing everyone in the slow, right hand lane, which everyone stayed in. I expected an accident or police or ambulances ahead and that I'd have to get back in line.
Nope. They were all behind a SNOW PLOW going 20 MPH when there was virtually nothing to plow! I couldn't believe it.
Having said that, most in SC drive until their tires are bald and don't know how to drive in the snow and don't keep 6/32nds tread depth (or even think about that) (but don't really need to because snow is rare).
I passed everyone and drove on my way.
I had an 18 SEER heat pump on that Blythewood house with a gas pack but it does get down to 20 degrees in Jan, especially at night. Warms up by March.
Doh, yeah I haven’t driven through since 2018 but I-20. How I headed to Lexington where a good childhood friend lives and on to Greer where my cousin lives.Lol. Its true!
As it happens I used to live not horribly far away in NC (Greenville NC) when I was a kid. And I do remember it snowing a few times. But I was mostly talking about in away from the rain. I'm sure everyone working on the inside, while the exterior was still going up, is a bit happier now that "the inside" is actually "inside'.
This summer we drove by the plant in Blythewood as we traveled from Charlotte to Lexington to visit the grand-kids. It is amazing to see how big that operation is. I really hope to be able to visit onsite soon.Doh, yeah I haven’t driven through since 2018 but I-20. Almost sounds like Survivor!Should be part of the pick up experience. Should choose an hour or so of fishing or archery or axe throwing and maybe fire starting and cooking over open fire. Similar to the things they did at the reveal last year.
