Now that America has become great, where will Scout Motors rank on this chart?

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

I have seen this ranking making rounds on the social media. It will be great if someone from Scout Motors can comment on what their target is. Will it be 100% American made with 100% American parts?

Well the batteries are expected to be made in Canada so right there we know we know won't be 100% US made. It's pretty unrealistic to expect the vehicles to contain only 100% US components and measuring country of origin is a difficult task. North America has a very integrated automotive industry and has for almost a century now. Sub-component suppliers can be in any of the NAFTA countries. We had free trade up until a certain someone decided to roll the clocks back to the 18th century for the US. If saner heads ultimately prevail then this whole question will be moot.

85% American Parts for Scout is what has been reported. Axles are probably gonna be ZF which is German. The Battery by PowerCo is made in Canada we believe unless it’s being made by a US manufacturer due to the slight delay in PowerCos Factory. With the new (insert word) it’s possible Scout will try to push for a higher percentage, but it will probably stay around the 85%.

And Tesla isn’t 100% Made in America. 22% comes from Mexico and China 3% of their supply chain as well.

I'm not sure how accurate that list is anyways, I don't think Tesla is at 100%, even though it's the most 'American' car manufacturer. I think it will be difficult to get 100% of all the car parts, materials, chips, batteries etc. to be US only.

I guess the other question could be, if it is mostly American made and other countries have reciprocal tariffs in place, how will that affect Scout's plans for other markets like Canada?

Careful buddy, that can become a political disaster which is not tolerated here.

So many what if questions. I’m following my great grandmothers advise. If a questions starts with “what if” don’t worry about it until you have a definitive answer. So many things can and will change in 3 years. I’m putting my faith in SM and that’s all I can do at this point.

I'm hoping Scout opens a factory in Mexico and then uses that factory to export to Canada so that we won't have to pay tariffs on them. We still have free trade with Mexico because they still honour CUSMA (aka NAFTA). 🙃
Keep hoping lol. It’s gonna be a while before that happens. They need to see profit before that.

Also it honor not “honour” lol. I’m only messing with you.

Oh I'm not holding my breath but I might have to buy a Chinese EV or even the Jeep Recon (assuming it's made in Canada) instead if this nonsense continues! That would be very unfortunate.

Maybe the Koreans will make something interesting I could buy instead. They've been doing good stuff lately. We'll have to wait and see.

We have 2 years my friend so till we see the actual cars, there will be many "what if" questions here.

I deferred my decision to buy a car now because of SM and I too will continue to hold the reservation. But if there is clarity that scout motors will be out of reach for canadians, I will have to look towards the Germans or the Japanese.

The Koreans make good stuff, and we have free trade with them.

Thanks for clarifying the Tesla thing because I knew they weren’t 100%
