This is way more like what I want! No roof rails and no tire carrier! I am not 100% on the wheel offset. They seem a little bit too wide. But, that might just be the pictures. I really like the interior except the wood. It looks like plywood to me and is way to busy for an otherwise beautiful, subtle interior palette.

Luckily your BEV and small tire preferences should go well together for the spare tire underneath!

I've been running 35x12.5 tires on 9" wide wheels for some time now on my current vehicle, but I'll probably want an 18x8 wheel with 10.5 to 285 width tires at most on the Scout, though I'll want ~35" height out of the closest standard-size tire I can find.

Tahitian Red is still my current pick, but I do love this color - not exactly black or dark gray, but close enough. I think all the colors have been fantastic honestly - they all have subtle layers instead of a flat/uniform look (except for the white for obvious reasons).

Not as sure about the lots of brown interior, but the fabric choices are also very good.

Agree. This new color is so much better than plain black. Anxious to see it in bright light up close to see the gold in it that the article mentioned

Something about the rear mask is throwing me off.

What specifically aren’t you liking? It actually looks a bit better to me than I expected. I think the dark coffee black color helps blend the large charcoal panel so it feels more body colored. That’s a win from my point of view

It's different and I agree it blends well with the darker colors, without it, it looks Range Rover-ish IMO but had we seen this day one I think it would look more fitting.

That’s a good question. If this was what rolled out at the launch party would that have changed your mind about putting in a reservation.

I probably would not have made a reservation. I was looking for an offroad style vehicle with a tire carrier and I don’t think I would have made my reservation.

Agreed, though I can't put my finger on it. The deeper recess for the plate within the recess for the mask is throwing me off I think since I generally like symmetry or at the very least balance, neither of which is present.

More balanced, but not sure about it still. Takes away from the whole mask vibe.

Couple observations/questions as I stared over lunch-
-New floor mats
-Roof is black again which I didn’t notice at first
-is it me or is the interior metallic trim work darker? I don’t think it is but it feels darker
-the plaid inserts have a lot of colors in the blend when you zoom in close and it looks really good.
-the glass panel covers the entire back row. I don’t recall in the Terra if it is the same distance but that is huge opening and if like the Terra-no crossbar of any kind. Will let in LOTS of light. Also wonder if this has the ambient led perimeter around the glass like the Terra?

Piping detail on side of seat is a nice touch too. I’m not counting on these details making it to production but damn they look good. Other brands don’t go to this level

I may have made a reservation, but I’m not sure I’m quite as excited about it now. I’m all in on a rugged-looking Scout, similar to what we first saw at the reveal and in the more recent off-road concept. That said, I understand the need to broaden the appeal and make it more practical for other markets and everyday use.

Looking back at the first/second-generation Scouts, you can really see the appeal of both sides of the Scout identity; the weekend off-road warrior and the grocery-getting daily driver.

Well stated. And to be fair I was at reveal with you so I know we both really liked the off-road feel to them. I still prefer it with the tire carrier as well. Choices…something, something…

Oh! Not the interior finishes, but could this be what a “base” trim looks like? Would this body be what we see in the configurator with an 18” wheel and a 33” street tire and then we add from there?

The blog says “deep charcoal brown,” but I’m seeing very dark grey or black. I wonder how much the brown comes out in different light. It would be good to see these in different times of day. It’s too dark for me, personally—black vehicles just love to absorb too much of the Arizona sun.

One thing I think we’ve established with the exterior colors; Pacific Mist, Silo, Galvanized Gray, and now Morning Roast, is that the team really likes colors that have the ability to shift and “flip-flop” depending on the lighting. That subtle change in tone and character seems to be a common thread across the colors.
