Jeep Recon

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I just watched a TFL video about Scout at the LA Auto show. Production is still scheduled to start in 2027 so we're still a couple of years away. And the price will be "below $60,000" US, so...$59,999? That works out to $85k CAD. I guess we'll see.

Another problem with the Recon is not only does it have shortish range but it's also only 400V architecture so it'll charge slowly. I'm predicting it won't sell well. Stellantis really sucks at EVs. The should hire someone who's owned an EV before so they can learn how to make a good one.

I’ve never had two sets and we seem to get less and less snow here in the winter. Cold yes, snow not so much. I really don’t want to have to deal with two sets if I don’t have to.
Yeah, I don't really need them for where we live in PA but more so for where we travel. They're still useful under 45 degrees anyways and stop better etc. even when it's just cold or wet so I don't mind having the two options. I figure once the outlay on the second set of wheels is done, then the tires take twice as long to wear out switching between sets so that offsets things. Plus I'm less worried if my winter wheels get any curb rash or anything (my main summer tires are immaculate lol).

That is what I will be debating when it comes to picking tires for the Scout. We go snowboarding a lot and drive up to Quebec every winter as well as parts of New England. I have winter tires on my Tesla that we take at the moment, I'm not sure if A/T or all season tires on the Scout will be enough or if I'll keep with the setup I have now with 2 sets of tires.
We always have two sets of tires. We have summers (aka "all seasons") and then good snow tires for the winter (Hakkapeliitas). I expect to do the same with the Scout.

Stellantis Sucks Overall, we need to stop sugar coating everything, and just state the obvious.

Stellantis is Stellantis and they don’t appear to be on the right track. Not my circus, not my monkeys as they say.

Now more importantly, nothing has changed with SM. A year since reveal and they are still on track for 2027. Did anyone else notice how he didn’t say end of 2027? He just said ‘2027’!! I wonder if they might be a tiny bit ahead of schedule but aren’t announcing that. Just speculating.

More importantly, they are still saying below $60,000. I’ll take it! I’m sure I will be spending more by the time I add on the options I want, but I’ll take that starting price!

Can’t wait to see more from the show?

Who is going today??

Doors off is a gimmick same as the Wrangler/Glafdiator.

They know perfectly well they're going to stay on. Same as they know perfectly well they're going to stay on road.

They're selling an image/idea. They CAN come off, it CAN go offroad, you COULD be that guy on the energy drink commercial.

And when they come off, so do your mirrors!

You're also not dealing with elevations or mountain passes + freeze / thaw gravel and mud in the springtime I'm guessing, in which case you would be perfectly fine. I'm in a situation where a storm can blow in and I will be driving for 2+ hours to get to where I need to be, and roads aren't even plowed. Or, the storm has ended and the wind whips around the backside of a Nor'easter and you've got drifting snow or snow-packed roads with ice in sections where they don't treat. I actually really enjoy winter driving in the mountains more than anything, but it takes skill, patience, a good understanding of your truck (which I had to re-learn in the Rivian) and GREAT TIRES. Its usually the "thrifty yankees" in the Northeast that run bologna skin tires that create pile ups, can't make it up a hill at a stop light and wreak havoc or spin out on the HWY and wonder why they are in a ditch?

You are correct. We are in town. No mountains for sure. Not even a hill to be seen and they plow our area of town first. Every once in a a while we will get a bad storm but that seems to have not happened lately.

However I agree with you all that’s 35s are going to affect the range. I’ve decided I’m going to settle for 33s. 😹

Nooooo! Don't back down now @cyure ! Your off-road pavement princess is going to be a thing of beauty. Don't compromise because you are feeling a bit of range anxiety. Go with the 35-inch tires and live the dream! If the range really does become an issue you can down-size to 33-inch street tires.

BTW - I don't know how wide spread it is, but there are two tire shops in the next town over from me that will store a set of tires for nominal fee. Some friends in town that switch summer and winter tires have the tire shop store and swap out the tires when the seasons change. Maybe there is something like that near you? That way, even if you can't store an extra set of tires yourself, you can have a set of each and swap when needed?

It’s not just the range. It’s also climbing in the darn thing and I don’t like the way steps look. I want rock sliders (even tho I won’t be sliding on anything 😹). I went to the Jeep dealer and got into a Wrangler with 35s. Yeah they look nice but let’s just say I’m not getting any younger. 😹

Meh. I offroad my Jeep. I take my doors off. Sometimes I offroad my Jeep with the doors off.

The KO3's will be good summer and shoulder season tires for sure. Snow and ice are another story entirely. I just swapped out my A/T's for my winter wheels with Nokian Hakkas and they are NIGHT and DAY better than any A/T I have ever run in the winter. Like - not even comparable in terms of traction and stopping performance.
I’m going to chime in here and disagree. My brother ran KO2’s for over 50,000 miles in a variety of conditions, and in the winter they did great. He just switched to KO3’s and from what he’s seen so far, there’s no reason to think the KO3’s won’t be a good tire. They were on my short list before going with the General Grabber A/Tx. But don’t take just my word for it…

I love my KO2s on the f150. For an off road tire, they are super quiet, non of the usual blup blup blup/ popping sound. Overall a really good tire.

I should reiterate that I also think the K03 will be an excellent tire (and never said that they would not be a good tire) - particularly where you have people that do not want to swap out for winter severe snow service rated tires. In fact I would say that they could be the first or second best A/T tire that can perform well in snow.

Based on my own experience, BUT also based on test results (particularly in Sweden where a lot of winter tire R&D takes place) a dedicated snow with better siping and winter-specific tread compounds (severe snow service rated winter truck tires tires, like a Hakka or a Blizzak) will consistently outperform A/T tires for cornering/handling, stopping & acceleration. Same is true if you add studs, but that is a whole different comparison. Again, I think the KO3 will be great for a lot of people. I will admit that I am a total snow tire nerd and will always swap out for even 30 feet of better braking distance, or slightly better grip when cornering.

I just saw that the Jeep Recon, has quick release door hinges, that require no tools. Seems to have charger vibes, these things are going to be having doors stolen off of them like hot cakes. Remember to lock your doors people that are buying Jeep Recons.

Funny enough they just added that to 2026 MY Wrangler…. Get ready for the recall.

As a reviewer of cars myself I find this highly disrespectful to do. Reviewers and journalists as well as many other people who know about the auto industry know that pre production cars are not indicative of the final product. Does Jeep have a good record of quality? No. They purposely did that for clicks and now it’s backfiring on them. I’m sure that they will likely be banned from future auto shows and being invited to brand reviews or reveals.

Agreed, Appears they have since removed the content and likely resulting in non-invitations for reviews in the fututre. I appreciate when constructive feedback is used appropriately—reviews don’t always need to be glowing. But criticizing build quality on a pre-production vehicle crosses the line.

Agreed. They haven’t removed the one on Tik Tok though because they got more views there and I’m sure they’ll earn more as well.
