Frunk Fridge

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.

Consider incorporating electrical hookups and mounting/tie down points in the frunk for a small refrigerator. I know Dometic offers several models. It would be nice to grab a cold beverage after a hike or paddle without having to deal with a cooler or ice!

We bring a ICECO 60L fridge with us camping. It doesn't fit into the Lightning's frunk, which is disappointing, but it does hold enough food for long camping trips. It uses only a small amount of power, so it doesn't impact the truck's range.

You did see the lower portion of frunk is an ice bin. I get not wanting to deal with ice melt on certain occasions and/or 4-5 day camp trip but at least it’s a start. That seems big enough to haul a keg around and keep it cold.

Yeah. In the desert southwest summers, where and when we usually camp, ice doesn't last more than a day or two even in a high-end cooler. We usually have the fridge in the shade and still end up covering it with a wet towel, just to keep it cool enough to preserve our ice for after-dinner cocktails.

Ice stored in a cooler in the frunk, just above where the radiator and other motor/battery cooling equipment sits, just won't cut it for us.

@J Alynn - are there any photos of the ice bin in the frunk you know of? Would be curious to see how that is insulated and able to drain.
Not that I got at the reveal. @LastDayScout may have gotten one. They didn’t give us a ton of views in there and until we got to nose around with Jamie that night it was dark and my phone was on its last bar so I skipped photos of black plastic in the dark ?. It was basic so guessing the concept was there but it likely wasn’t fully finished out. It did look like there was good depth and the lid slides forward to serve as a frunk-gate/seat. If I had to guess for what I saw which was minimal I’d say 1-2 large bags of ice and maybe 20-ish drinks? Hoping LastdayScout can offer more insight or one of the other guys that was at the reveal. Conceptually though it was great!

Exactly how many beers can this small chill box hold!? Perhaps a six pack? ?
Based on the armrest/console size (keep in mind unlike the CES guests-we didn’t get to go inside ?) but I’d guess 6 cans/bottles. Maybe 8 if you laid them in and got a little creative.
On a 10-12 hour trip with the EV and two charge stops you could probably pound a beverage right after connecting and sober up in time to trek again after charging ?

I can fit a whole six pack in my expedition console! I just don’t have a way to chill them… ford doesn’t offer a chilling center console.

Assuming cooling will be an option but for the right price it’s probably worth it if you can get enough drinks to keep the kids hydrated or toss in a couple pounds of meat if you are going picnicking
