Ford model T moment vs Scout motors

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
I don't really think we have enough information to say whether or not their new platform will be successful, however their production efficiencies could be a game changer when it comes to speed to market and general availability, which is very important if we're looking at an electrified future.

The more auto makers jumping into the game and making improvements the better IMO, competition creates innovation.

I think Ford has also sent Rivian a bunch of money - so good chance it will have a Rivian based platform in 2027 - the same time Scout and VW are releasing Rivian based platform vehicles.

Googled, Ford invested 500m for Rivians battery platform, VW invested about 10x that for EV electrical and software platform.

Ford sold the majority of its Rivian holdings over 2 years ago. They invested in the skateboard platform (not their battery tech) to build electric trucks, then re-trenched, launched their own EV and then sold holdings at a loss. At last check, they owned only about a 1% stake in Rivian. Now the reboot of EV tech at Ford begins (from the Rundown):

The Rundown: Ford is pumping $5B into a full EV reboot, with $2B of it slated to rewire its Louisville plant. Out goes Henry Ford’s legendary moving assembly line and in comes an “assembly tree” designed to branch out into the electric era.

The details:

  • The first product under the EV reboot is set to be a $30K midsize electric pickup, launching in 2027 to make affordable EVs a mass-market reality.
  • The new Universal EV Platform will slash 20% of typical vehicle parts, cut 25% of fasteners, and compress assembly time by 15%.
  • Ford’s California-based skunkworks team, led by ex-Tesla exec Alan Clarke, engineered this revamp.
  • In addition, $3B is also earmarked for a battery park in Michigan, where Ford will produce lower-cost lithium-iron phosphate batteries.
Why it matters: The Louisville upgrade will expand the plant by 52K square feet and secure at least 2,200 jobs, as Ford retools for full-scale electric production. Gas-powered Escapes and Lincoln Corsairs are on their way out at Louisville, as Ford shifts to fully embracing electrification.

It’s very positive that Ford is making the commitment to electric. At some point the gas loving American car buying demographic is going to have to except EV is the future. And with Ford and GM on board it’s only a matter of years. I think Chrysler/Stellantis has SO many issues within their branding and vehicle line ups they aren’t sure which way to go.

It looks like Ford took another wrong turn. They should of went big truck with high nickel. Not small truck with LFP. Goofy Farley is driving Ford into the ground over there at Ford. No one's going to buy 100 mile range small pickup. They want big and long range.. comfortability. Terra will sell like hot cakes and the Ford will be another failure.

Scout Motors has been doing things correctly. Only 2 offerings, not being spread thin. Giving Americans what they want. High nickel and gasoline. Plus bigness. Also.. trying to wipe their feet from scam dealerships.

Which Farley are we looking at?

Ford's success is not important. Don't fool yourself. That's not how capitalism works. The ice vs EV mantra is over. That's something old to say. .. Big $$$$ Ford is a loss.. but the country men of the USA are the true losers because Ford doesn't have their back.. too in love with metropolitan Chinese cpus.

Pickup truck. Not a crap. Uncomfortable cheapskate low range.. nightmare. Only a country mouse knows.

Give me the RANGE and let me go.

Nickel battery chemistry. 811

Nickel range.. give me the range.. and let me run.. not Chinese metropolitan City.

Henry Ford’s real contribution to the industry was less about the car and really more about the assembly line. When they announced their Model-T moment, I thought the assembly process would be a major part of things. If it helps them produce a superior product, more power to them.

The how isn't a concern. The end product is what we're buying. Ford and Tesla Cybertruck is a junk pile. Only appeasing stockholders and not real users of the product. Pick up things. Pick up truck. Both are failure. I don't need a fancy outhouse to flush them. Slate. Ford.. arcimoto.. 100 mile range is a fail story. 300 miles barley gets the job done. We should be seeing 600 miles for these prices. It's artificially capped, and the country suffers. City slickin

Rocky 4 was the best Rocky
