  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

So hear me out...

Solar tint is a pretty common "first mod" for people that live in hotter climates.

It would be awesome if we could have solar treatment on the windows/sunroof glass as a factory option.

The local glass shops usually charge $150-$200 for the windshield. I would gladly pay $700 to have it installed on all the glass on the Scout.

It makes a huge difference with heat gain so you could save more energy during summer months and wont need to pre-cool it so much on hotter days.

I would most likely use this as well, as long as we could pick the tint percentage. Also, I'm not sure what the implications would be (if any) for Scout, if someone requested a tint that was below the legal limits of their state.

I think they could avoid legality issues if they only use the transparent solar films for the windshield, but Im sure car manufacturers know how tint the rest of them legally.

Legal tint is the big hurdle and we discussed this early on. The other issue beyond to dark for legal is how you control it as they won’t want to stock 5 different tint levels. Clear would solve that issue but if my rears are tinted from factory at 30% then I want my sides tinted so they match closely and pretty sure 30% is one of the more common limits for many states. I’d be fine and probably prefer clear on the windshield. But that and a few preset PPF clear protectant wrap packages would be great from the factory.

I dont know of many vehicles in that price range that ship with totally clear windows.

Again, for the other windows I trust that they will know what they are doing.

Most manufacturers include tint thats legal. I just want it to be solar tint to reject more heat.

It would not be visibly different than the normal factory window tint.

Tinting windshields is illegal below the AS-1 line without a prescription in most states.

This is a clear film that rejects heat.

No need to over-complicate things.

So basically the clear ceramic coat? That’s what we put on my daughter’s car going to school in Texas.

In certain states, if your car comes from factory with full tint. They won’t ask you to remove it. So I think scout should add it in the configurator. Put the basics 25%, 50%, 75%.

Windshield can have a UV clear tint, which is a standard in the automotive industry.
Which states are those? I’d be leery only for resale because PA is based on a light visibility test-they don’t care how it got put on. That said it would be nice for all side and rear glass to be tinted.

You would have to research it. But NJ has very strict rules on tint. And ive been pulled over in my cars that have it. And when i showed them it was a factory installed item they said "have a good day sir" because they legally can't make you take it off if the car came with it from factory.
