Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Ultimately, at this point - the showings are of less importance to me. Sure, I would love to see one in person - but I am more concerned with seeing it in person when it is closer to a production vehicle rather than a one off concept.

If a concept showing is within 5hrs of me and my schedule permits - I will do the drive probably. But really want to see the production ready vehicle before ordering as well. Sit in it, possibly even test drive it as well. Seats can make a huge difference. My wife's car - I would be crying if I had to drive it more than 15 minutes at a time, and I cringe just sitting down in it. But it is her car - and I think I have only borrowed it for 2 short road trips in the last 7 years.
Okay I’m going to tag @Jamie@ScoutMotors in this. This is a very good point.

Seats are very important. I have a bad back/hip. So not just a seat that can accommodate for tall/short people, but lumbar adjustments and I really wish the front had a break that could adjust to hit the back of your knees like my BMW seat did. And tilt is just as important as moving forward and backward.

And when testing the seats don’t just have 20 year olds with great spines and hips. Have some of us middle age folks, differently abled folks, etc try them and not just for 15 minutes. You need to sit in them for an extended period of time to get a sense of the adjustability and comfortability.

I would hate to be uncomfortable driving my Scout.

Thanks SM and Jamie!

Hopefully they're making the seats they design, and being forced to sit in them as they design other parts. Best way to judge a seat? Sit in it for 8+ hours! Better yet, do a 20-hour non-stop road trip.

I think any seat would be uncomfortable after 20-hours non-stop. At my age my bladder wouldn't survive. ;)

We had a terrible seat experience with a car. In 2022 we were trying to find a Supra. That’s why you couldn’t find cars and dealers were offering crazy money on trades. He has a 2015 Miata soft top. I found a 2022 Miata hard top. He was so frustrated with the whole process he was like fine buy it. Always wanted a hard top. The worst seat ever. His back hurt so bad. He didn’t even want to move it into the garage one day. We tried every aftermarket lumbar support device out there. Took it to an upholstery guy. Nothing he could do because the seat was heated and had speakers. Found a Supra and we traded that car in with 600 miles on it. We hadn’t even made the first payment yet. Never again.

I've only pulled one of those in the past 10 years and much of it was through horrible snow, so the adrenaline kept the seat comfort in the background.

How are the seats in the new Supra? My old Supra still has the best seats of any car I've owned (I've had a lot), and the independent lower, middle and upper lumber adjustments are divine. The adjustable side bolsters (open up wide for wider bodies, or crank them down to crack your ribs) are built for full track duty, well beyond what the car is capable of. They'd suck for an average American probably, but they're great if you're 5'-8" and under without too many extra pounds.

They are awesome. They are BMW seats. The Supra is essentially a Z4 in a Toyota suit is how I describe it. The upholstery guy said German cars have the best seats. I’m hoping that that will carryover to the Scout.

I’m sorry this Slate could really just nickel and dime you.
