Extra, Extra....Read All About It!

  • From all of us at Scout Motors, welcome to the Scout Community! We created this community to provide Scout vehicle owners, enthusiasts, and curiosity seekers with a place to engage in discussion, suggestions, stories, and connections. Supportive communities are sometimes hard to find, but we're determined to turn this into one.

Additionally, Scout Motors wants to hear your feedback and speak directly to the rabid community of owners as unique as America. We'll use the Scout Community to deliver news and information on events and launch updates directly to the group. Although the start of production is anticipated in 2026, many new developments and milestones will occur in the interim. We plan to share them with you on this site and look for your feedback and suggestions.

How will the Scout Community be run? Think of it this way: this place is your favorite local hangout. We want you to enjoy the atmosphere, talk to people who share similar interests, request and receive advice, and generally have an enjoyable time. The Scout Community should be a highlight of your day. We want you to tell stories, share photos, spread your knowledge, and tell us how Scout can deliver great products and experiences. Along the way, Scout Motors will share our journey to production with you.

Scout is all about respect. We respect our heritage. We respect the land and outdoors. We respect each other. Every person should feel safe, included, and welcomed in the Scout Community. Being kind and courteous to the other forum members is non-negotiable. Friendly debates are welcomed and often produce great outcomes, but we don't want things to get too rowdy. Please take a moment to consider what you post, especially if you think it may insult others. We'll do our best to encourage friendly discourse and to keep the discussions flowing.

So, welcome to the Scout Community! We encourage you to check back regularly as we plan to engage our members, share teasers, and participate in discussions. The world needs Scouts™. Let's get going.

    We are Scout Motors.
Does Scout intend for it to be removable? Looks like no.

Can you take it off? I’m sure you can.

Will it look clean like it would if you ordered it without it? I highly doubt it. You are going to have half a hinge attached to the body and then the hole where the latch latches.

Will someone make some sort of plug to fill those holes? Based on what is on the aftermarket for Wranglers, I would imagine someone will.
The upper tailgate will probably have a filler plate that gets latched in. and the swing hinge area will probable just get caped off.

As for the last time I needed a spare- about two months ago. Small metal debris sliced a tire wide open and I lost all 34psi in about a half mile. Full-size spare to the rescue. 5 minutes later, I'm back on the road. Admittedly, this was in my car, not my SUV with its 100-lb spare.
This is what happens when you try to run from the police and they “stick” your car while you are runnin.

Gas touched 4.50 in PA... cant wait to be done with it.

A friend posted this on their instagram a few days ago. He is probably posting from California, but as his username implies, he travels around a lot so I'm not sure where he was for this one.

This is a non negligible reason to want Scout Motors BEVs to succeed. It is so nice not having to pay weekly attention to this prices now that my daily driver is an EV, and being in CA, I'm working on moving to being able to do a lot of charging from roof mounted solar with battery backup.

Unless its made into the lift gate which it isn't there has to be some way of removing/installing it especially for collision repair service. I'm sure the mounting locations of the arm will have to be reinforced to support the weight and all but I seriously doubt there will be no way to remove it.

Now if thats what Jaime said then sure I accept what he's saying but maybe its more like dropping the windshield on a wrangler. You can do it, but there is quite a process involved in doing it.
I don't think we know at this point how easy it will be to remove the swing arm. From statements made by Jamie, it won't be as simple as pulling a pin and lifting. It will be removable in the same sense that everything on the truck that isn't welded on is removable. We just don't know which end of the spectrum it'll be closer to: remove the floor mats ease or remove the high voltage battery difficult.

It might just be reaching for straws, but maybe, just maybe SM will see the feedback and alter the design to where we can remove it relatively easy should we want or need.
